EDITORIAL: 5 Things I Want From DAREDEVIL Season 2

With such a stellar first season of Netflix's Daredevil, TV series it's hard to imagine how Marvel could possibly top it. Here are five elements I would like to see in the forthcoming season, which is set to premiere sometime in 2016. Check it out...

Happy New Year everyone! From Agent Carter to Age of Ultron to Jessica Jones, 2015 has brought us a lot of material for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One of these jewels was Daredevil, a show that cemented my faith in the Marvel brand. Within the next few months we'll be getting season two, and with such a great adaption made in season one, it's hard to wonder how they could possibly top it.

One thing Marvel has always gotten right is they let their story be driven by character. Daredevil certainly had plenty of interesting characters, but it also had it's fair share of world-building. Season 2 will have to amp up on both of these things, but how would I do it if I was behind the wheel? Let's get started.

5). Explore Karen Page's Past

SPOILER ALERT: Set photos have shown Karen Page and Matt Murdock holding hands on the street, suggesting that a relationship of sorts has indeed formed between the two. With Elektra showing up to no doubt bring Matt on a violent trip down Memory Lane, it would only make sense to have his significant other revist her past as well. Season one raised a lot of questions about Karen, with Ben Urich not seeming too impressed after he looked into her past. In the comics, she dabbled in porn and all kinds of drugs, so it'd be interesting to see how those things made her who she is today and how she still deals with them.

4). Carl Creel, the Absorbing Man

With the return of Elektra and Frank Castle's emergence, Daredevil is going to have a lot on his hands this season. Like the first season, you can imagine we'll see petty crooks, and one I'd like to see him fight is Carl Creel. For those who don't recall, Matt's dad Battlin' Jack Murdock fought against Creel and won, in a fight he was supposed to throw. Something to remind the character and audience of how important his father is to his past could only help the story, and would be an awesome clash of powers.

3). Growth of Nelson & Murdock

One of the things I loved about Brian Michael Bendis' run on the Daredevil comics is the amount of time the characters spent in court, and this is something I want to see them explore further. In the comics, Nelson & Murdock represented everyone from the Thing to Black Cat, and I believe even Bruce Banner. A lot will have happened between the two seasons, but we need to see the real change get made. We have to believe that these guys could represent an Avenger or celebrity one day, so showing that progress would be great.

Also, Punisher showing up in the middle of a court battle would be badass.

2). Other Minor Villains

We all want to see Bullseye appear, and he damn well may, but with Elektra, the Punisher and possibly the Hand already causing Daredevil trouble, I think it's best he wait for season three. However, the books do not run short on minor crooks for him to fight.

In addition to Absorbing Man, having Melvin Potter become the Gladiator would perhaps be the most natural evolution, seeing he's already been introduced as a mentally unstable character. What of my personal favorites was the comic relief Turk Barrett, who we know from the Jessica Jones prelude has a kid he has to take responsibility for. His return in particular could provide needed, organic humor. It's also been rumored Leland Owsley's son "Lee" is the supervillain the Owl, and his father's death from season one would give him a realistic reason to visit Hell's Kitchen.

1). The Return of Wilson Fisk

One of the hands down greatest performances in the MCU was Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk, a corrupt businessman and the big bad of season one. Fisk's arc was every bit as complex as Matt's, and maybe even more interesting.

One thing you never want to do is retread old ground, so having him as the main antagonist again is a big no-no. But his presence does need to be felt, even stuck all the way on Ryker's Island, and when he does finally make his return to Hell's Kitchen, it should be as the nefarious Kingpin of Crime, having fully embraced his villanous nature.

That's all I've got, fellow fans. Let me know what you want to see in the comment section!

Still sad that they killed off Urich!

Great list but personally I'd rather see less of Karen Page, because her character, in my opinion, is not interesting in the slightest and seemed to only cause more problems for people

I really want to see (we are getting some of these btw) Punisher, Elektra, Bullseye, Gladiator, New(?)Owl, and of course, Kingpin with a proper white suit, fighting Daredevil with a proper Red suit (light shaded red not this dark bullcrap) oh and I want Elektra to be killed in season 3, so Matt can go apeshit on Bullseye. nuff said.

Punisher's skull....

I have no doubt at all he will have it when he's out at night on missions. But we still have yet to see it. I can't wait for that.

I agree wholeheartedly with 1-4. But I'm not eager to see them dig into Karen any time soon. I think they should give her a chance to be the (modernized) "best gal/secretary" from Karen's earlier days in the comics. Play up the love triangle(s) a bit. Save the darker stuff for a later season, so that Woll can keep up that fake innocence that she absolutely mastered in the first season.

Absorbing Man would be dope. Not just for the obvious reasons, but for the Connectedness of it, as well.

You forgot to mention The Owl for season 2. Leland Owlsely from season 1 kept mentioning his son. In fact one of the last things he said was that he was going to take his son with him in his escape-to-a-life-or-luxury plan. And Leland was around 70. So his son (Probably Leland Owlsely Jr.) would be roughly around the same age as The Owl from the comics-and season 2 he would have not just a good opportunity to rise up as a crime lord in the chaos of power vacuum with Kingpin's absence but also a deep rooted motivation to exact vengeance on Fisk for the death of his old man.

What we don't want is more of Kingpin staring at paintings and making eggs every episode.

i agree with #3
why i dont agree with the others
5 is no bc dont care about her all that much, and what was explained in season 1 about her past is good enough for me.
4 would be alright but i think "absorbing man" takes away from the feel that they are going for with bringing in the punisher.
2 would be okay but again, i dont want a Spiderman 3 scenario.
1 he was the villain last season, yes i want to see him but not that much, give us something new in season 2 and have him play a bigger role in season 3.
