New concept art for Echo, courtesy of Winona Nelson, has found its way online today and we're betting you never expected to see Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin of Crime depicted like this!
After being gunned down by Maya Lopez in Hawkeye, it seems Wilson Fisk's recovery and the stress surrounding his crumbling criminal empire got the better of him, leaving the villain to deal with...eczema?! It's a unique approach to depicting his declining physical and mental wellbeing, that's for sure, but one it might have been a little odd to see on screen.
Echo left Fisk in a confusing place; using her newfound abilities, Maya attempted to heal his childhood trauma, only for the villain to reject her help. However, his cry of "What did you do?" has left fans wondering whether she changed something inside him.
The Hollywood Reporter recently asked D'Onofrio whether he believes their clash inspired The Kingpin to run for New York City Mayor.
"No, I don’t think that," the actor admitted. "I want to do the right thing here and say something that is true, but not too revealing. I don’t think he’s changed; I think he’s enlightened. I haven’t seen a lot of the episodes of Echo. So, in my mind, after everything goes down with Maya, he gets on a plane, and the news is playing on the plane."
"It says, 'New York is going to be looking for a new mayor soon,' and as he’s watching it, a light bulb goes on. So, by the end of that flight, he decides, 'If I want to be all powerful, this is what I’m going to do.' That’s the most I can tell you."
That doesn't really clear anything up, but it's an interesting perspective! Take a closer look at this new concept art for Echo in the Instagram post below.
