Did THE FALCON & THE WINTER SOLDIER Finale Reveal The MCU's First Undercover Skrull? - SPOILERS

Today's season finale of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier left us with a few lingering questions, and when it comes to one character, in particular, a few things simply don't add up. Spoilers ahead...

Marvel's second Disney+ miniseries, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, concluded with an emotional season finale today, and while "One World, One People" wrapped up most characters' arcs in a satisfactory manner, we were left with a few lingering questions - particularly when it comes to a certain former Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.!

As most of us expected, Sharon Carter was revealed to be the shadowy Power Broker, playing both sides against each other and manipulating characters and events to suit her own nefarious intentions.

Honestly, this didn't make a whole lot of sense. Sure, we buy that Sharon would be pissed off about what happened after the events of Civil War, but would this once dedicated agent who believed so strongly in Steve Rogers and everything he stood for really break bad to such a degree? Plus, why on Earth would she lead Sam, Bucky and Zemo to the only man capable of making more of the super-soldier serum, taking out her own people in the process?

A second season may shed more light on Sharon's motivations, but for now, we have a theory: What if Sharon Carter is the MCU's first undercover Skrull?

Today's mid-credits scene saw Carter pardoned and reinstated to a high-ranking government position, before she called a mysterious individual to inform them that they now had access to the most powerful weapons on Earth. Why would Sharon - no matter what organization she's revealed to be working for or with - need such an arsenal if she wasn't planning some kind of large-scale takeover? More importantly, would she be so willingly involved in such a scheme, despite how poorly she'd be treated in the past?

We know the Secret Invasion is coming, and it follows that at least one established character will be unveiled as a shape-shifting sleeper agent. Given everything we've seen from her in TFATWS, we think it might just turn out to be Miss Carter.

What do you guys think? Are we way off base here? Be sure to drop us a comment down below.

Because the writing is awful.

@WruceBayne - Not in my opinion. No Skrulls have shown themselves to be bad so far... that was the Kree. But the motives for Sharon doing what she did (helping Cap, etc) is easy to see even while being the Power Broker.
In each case once the super heroes are involved its pretty hard to shut them out... so the power broken would ride along so see what else they can get out of the situation.
Initially helping Steve could get her exactly what Zemo wanted... a hero war and less heroes to deal with so its easier for her to peddle her wares.
In helping during this show again, they were going to get involved so you can't really stop them again... but what can you get out of it that's better... direct access to all government secrets and weapons to sale... much better than 2 dozen supersoldiers.
In directly dealing with super soldiers she is much more in the limelight and a possible target for people just like Batroc started treating her... but being the equivalent of the Mandarin (fake or real one) she can deal in anarchy and reap huge profits while being anonymous in the shadows.
It may even be likely we will find out she is in fact from the Red Room and a BW but one that instead of turning good like Natasha or still working for mother Russia, she turned bad for her own profit.

Won’t be surprised if that’s the case. Reveal the real Sharon is either being held hostage or dead.

Big thing to remember is that these shows are like the movies and aren’t gonna just reveal everything right away. They set things up and pay them off later. They always do this. It’s not surprising that they left things unanswered. It’s an ongoing story.

@newhire13 - why would the skrulls care about a government agent in the first place? Especially a glorified Cia agent lol

Despite the fact that this is probably true....

What an underwhelming show. Sure, we had some fun with it. The Madripoor episode was phenomenal and there was some cool action. But the entire series just felt completely rushed. The villain never connected with viewers, and wow was that final scene with Falcon (Captain America*) talking to the senators just brutally cliche/forced. As a viewer I couldn't wait for the "Flag Smashers" to get off screen because I just didn't care.

Marvel needs to take a step back and really ask themselves "what am I accomplishing here" before spending millions on a 6-episode show that is just... MEH

@CaptainDC - I really wonder what that disposed global virus plot would've looked like now

I would categorize this show to be their first small screen growing pain. Like when they made Iron Man 2. Hope its a learning experience.

@CaptainDC - I'd say their accomplishing the basic task of creating extremely popular and successful shows that allow them to explore side characters from previous films that otherwise wouldn't have gotten very much development, and then eschew those side characters into more prominent roles going forward.

I mean, they've accomplished that mission pretty clearly, but there's also finer points they can fine tune

@bobevanz - Sharon Carter would NEVER turn on her country. The wars are about to start.

@DoubleD - even Steve Rogers turned on his country after it turned on him. Steve stopped being Cap and went on the run when the Government failed him, and it rocked him to the core for a long time.

Peggy was made an enemy of the state and was abandoned by the Avengers after her usefulness was up. They never even checked to see if she was OK.

I could see her being pissed and having to harden up to survive in the underground. When the world turn its back on you, sometimes you have to get your hands dirty just to survive. Sometimes the dirt doesn't wash away and it changes good people into something else.

Sharon is not perfect. I believe she could become the Power Broker, the show just handled it so poorly it wasn't believable.

@DoubleD - I wouldn't say 100% but I'm leaning that way as well. But it wouldn't be the first time marvel changed a characters motivations if she isn't a skrull
