Former DAREDEVIL Showrunner Steven S. DeKnight Has Revealed That He'd Love To Helm A MOON KNIGHT Series

Pacific Rim: Uprising director Steven S. DeKnight who served as showrunner on the first season of Marvel and Netflix's Daredevil has revealed his interest in developing a Moon Knight series. Check it out.

When Marvel first partnered with Netflix to adapt their more mature and ground level characters, there was a whole laundry list of properties that people were hoping for and while the likes of Daredevil and Jessica Jones have proved massive hits, fans are still hoping to see some more left-of-field characters who weren't likely to see the silver screen.

One that comes up, again and again, is the Don Perlin and Doug Moench created Moon Knight  - a character who Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn once pitched the studio but to no avail. Now, Steven S. DeKnight, who served as showrunner on Daredevil's first season, would like to succeed where Gunn failed.

Speaking recently to ComicBook.com about his desire to bring Moon Knight to series:.

“I never considered including Moon Knight in Daredevil. Somebody asked me on Twitter a while back if I would do Moon Knight and I’ve always been a huge Moon Knight fan and yeah, if I had the time in my schedule and the stars aligned, I’d love to do Moon Knight. I mean, I love the whole multiple personalities. Is he crazy? Is he not crazy? Has he really gotten these mystical powers? Are they supernatural or is it all in his head? I think it would make for a very, very interesting Marvel universe kind of Netflix show. I also hope they’ll expand and give him a shot sometime.”

Speaking at a press event for Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige revealed that there is a plan for the character but it's likely to be anywhere between 5 - 15 years before we see them on screen. It's unclear whether DeKnight's recent interest in bringing the property to Netflix will change that at all.

Daredevil Season 3 is set to hit Netflix sometime in 2018 with second seasons of Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Punisher all in various states of production.

What do you think? Would you like to see Moon Knight as a Netflix series? Would you be happy for DeKnight to be at the helm? Leave your thoughts below.

Daredevil season 1 is a straight up masterpiece, so...

That would be interesting even if I still prefer that he could comeback to do another Season of Daredevil first.

@NinnesMBC - Indeed, why did he even leave?

@FunkyCipher - I think because he signed in to write the 5th Transformers movie that came out last year along with maybe others (I am not sure if he is involved with Bumblebee in some way) and then he signed up to do the new Pacific Rim film of this year. That is why.

He is certainly missed huh?

@NinnesMBC - Indeed. Daredevil season 2 was allright, but season 1 was dark knight quality in my opinion.

@FunkyCipher - Yep, I could tell since the first scene with Matt and Foggy walking towards work on daylight and their dialogue that something was just...off. I never could place a finger on it and I still can't, hence why I thought it was an alright Season.

I really hope S3 goes back to some of S1's stuff. I am not one to be too enamored and stucked with "S1 greatness" stuff and I usually am open to new tones and things but I really came to care about Daredevil and the way his story was told in S1. I often myself rewatching that Season a lot, specially the dialogue between Father Lantom and Matt in 1x09, my fave scene ever.

And tbh maybe if there were more discussions between those characters in S2 I might have liked it as much as S1. There is just something very cool about debating Matt's moral issues.

Don’t know the character but a hell of a lot of you have been asking / pleading almost for this so bring it on Marvel and Netflix!! My subscriptions all paid so you have my money😁

@ChangAlang - Ex-military mercenary with a possible personality disorder is killed by a fellow mercenary while on a raid in Egypt and revived(taken apart and put back together again with modifications) by the Heliopolitan god of the moon, Khonshu making him his avatar on Earth as he and the other Helipolitans are stuck in Celestial Heliopolis in another dimension after Thoth had them all relocate there and closed the golden bridge to Earth.

@MaximusTheMad - This is what i cannot understand about netflix. If the flash can have a semi good looking king shark, why can't they have this sort of thing.

@FunkyCipher -

All the Netflix series were shot on location in Manhattan.

Not the cheapest place to film five of these 13-episode series.
CaptainElrond
CaptainElrond - 6/7/2018, 10:48 AM
@MaximusTheMad - They could have like a set or something surely.

I think if we ever got to see Moon Knight on Netflix starting with him as Mister Knight would be a nice start. Like Matt's "OG" black suit Daredevil costume but instead, well, white colored. :P

Then again it might draw too much attention for the ultra grounded realistic tone that Netflix has established with all the Marvel shows there so far.
crawley
crawley - 6/7/2018, 10:57 AM
@NinnesMBC - Mr. Knight was cool but the Warren Ellis run eschewed all the supporting cast that would be essential for a 13-episode series.
NinnesMBC
NinnesMBC - 6/7/2018, 10:58 AM
@crawley - Well in that case they would have to draw from more than just one story and mix it up. I know he has his own supporting cast that helps him out so not including them would be a mistake.
ScionStorm

@NinnesMBC - He damn well better be fighting werewolves and punching ghosts and saving New York from a psychotic nun trying to burn it all down.
