There have been conflicting reports about Hailee Steinfeld's involvement with the upcoming Disney+ Hawkeye series since we first heard that she was in talks for the role of Kate Bishop, with comments from the actress herself casting doubt on her availability to commit to the role.
However, we now have some pretty compelling evidence that the the Academy Award-nominated True Grit star may have closed a deal to join the cast of the Marvel show.
As you can see, Hawkeye directors Bert and Bertie (aka longtime creative collaborators Amber Finlayson and Katie Ellwood) have followed both Steinfeld and Jeremy Renner on Instagram. While this is obviously far from confirmation that Hailee will play Bishop, it would be quite the coincidence if the filmmakers just randomly decided to follow her at the same time as the star of the show.
What do you guys think? Is this a good sign that Steinfeld has signed on to play Kate Bishop, or are people reading too much into it?
Hawkeye was originally scheduled to begin shooting last month before pandemic-related delays kicked in, but it is expected to commence production before the end of the year, so there's a good chance we'll get some kind of official update on Hailee's involvement fairly soon.
