We knew it was coming, but today's episode of Hawkeye finally brought Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after her introduction in Black Widow earlier this year.

With Clint Barton and Kate Bishop attempting to retrieve a watch (stolen from the Avengers Compound and taken by the Tracksuit Mafia during that robbery of the black market auction) from what is later revealed to be Maya Lopez's apartment, the Avenger finds himself attacked on a nearby rooftop by a masked assailant. A brutal fight ensues, with it quickly becoming clear that this mystery figure has Widow tech after she uses stingers on both Clint and Echo.

Her mask is eventually removed, and we learn that it's Yelena. Now on a mission of revenge after what happened in Avengers: Endgame, she doesn't speak, but ends up making her escape after Kate takes aim at her. Clearly, this isn't over, but as far as Clint is concerned, someone has hired a Black Widow assassin to kill him; he's unaware this is Natasha Romanoff's little sister.

As for that watch, the plot continues to thicken. Clint is able to track it and says that it could out someone who has been off the radar for a long time. Is he talking about Ronin or perhaps another Avenger we haven't seen for a while? It could even be a new character, but we'll have to wait and see for now.

I guess I need another viewing. What happened with the watch? Kate put it in her pocket, all hell broke loose and Clint told her to go home when the dust settled. What did I miss?

@inkniron - The watch fell into that circular space that the apartments surrounded.

@JDL - Nah, just watched the fight again. The only thing that went down that hole was Yelena's gun Kate kicked it. Kate walked off with the watch in her pocket, which I assume is what will bring them back together again.

Lots of fun and good-natured humor, with some excellent fight scenes that are choreographed very well.

And I love how Clint knows when it's useless to argue with some people and how surprisingly open he can be, and how well his family handles his work.

The Yelena situation can only end one logical way: just tell her what happened and how it happened. Any other way would be dumb. So far the show hasn’t treated the audience poorly so we will see.

Decent episode. At this point, I'm just waiting for Kingpin.

I'm pretty sure Kate's mom is behind the death and is using Jack as a red herring to cover for her criminal activities, since he would be an easy suspect in the death of his uncle.

Teeny tiny nitpicky thing I don't quite understand - why did Clint assume someone hired a Black Widow to come after him? Shouldn't he think there aren't any more Black Widows, seeing as as far as he's aware Natasha shut down the Red Room and killed all those in charge right after he spared her life and recruited her into SHIELD? Maybe I'm missing something, I dunno...

Even so though, I [frick]ing LOVE this series and even though this episode felt a little bit more fillery than the rest so far I'm so excited for what it set up and to see how the series is going to wrap up (and hopefully for a season 2 announcement)

Whoever thought Hawkeye would end up being one of my favourite Avengers?!
