It Appears As If IMAX Has Decided To Shorten The Theatrical Run Of Marvel's INHUMANS

Marvel's Inhumans was supposed to run in IMAX theaters for two weeks but it appears as if the negative buzz surrounding the upcoming television series has changed the company's mind about that...

Early reviews for Inhumans have not been good and the buzz surrounding the TV series is far from positive as a result. With reports pointing to Marvel making the show quickly and cheaply, chances are those first two episodes - which are set to premiere on IMAX screens next month - won't be very good.

That's what IMAX seems to think anyway as it's been revealed today that the company is cutting short the theatrical run for Inhumans a week sooner than expected. The plan was for the show to go up on those screens for two weeks but now Stephen King's IT is heading to IMAX
theaters on September 8th, it's clear that they believe the horror movie stands a much better chance of making them money.

It's possible IMAX realised they don't have a hit on their hands here and that this experiment (showing the first two episodes of a TV show on their screens) is a failure. After all, many people will wait until it reaches TV as that version will feature extra content and if it is bad, word of mouth will make it a flop.

Don't really get how you can call it a failure before even the first episode is out for everyone to truly make an opinion of and before seeing how much money it has made.

@MikeyL - I mean, the people showing it just decided to show it less, that's a little failure all by itself.

I still have hope this show will be mildly entertaining, but I'm not expecting anything great. I probably won't even watch it for months.

@MikeyL - The fact that even the actors don't have confidence in the show. Anson Mount started playing on his phone during the TCA interviews.

Man, Feige made the right call taking Inhumans off his Phase Three slate following his and Marvel Studios' exit from Ike Perlmutter.

@MarvelFan15 - MARVEL is killing their brand letting PERLMUTTER still handle television though! And an INHUMANS movie would have been dope... he just knew that once Perlmutter shit all over it it was no longer going to be profitable

I'm the biggest MCU and Marvel TV fan there is, and even I have little excitement for this show. That could all be due to poor marketing (a John Carter scenario), or perhaps the ads do indeed show the best of what the show has to offer.

Whatever it is, my nerd brain hasn't spent much time daydreaming about what the show will be -- a bad sign indeed.

This keeps getting funnier and funnier. What are the odds this gets a 2nd season? Will ABC hold out hope it will build an audience? Granted with all the negative news about the show we still don't know how the people who don't go to sites like this one will react to it but it doesn't'look good.

@TheBlueMorpho - Even if I was gonna watch it I would be worried it might get cancelled and then contemplate why should I even bother.

@TheBlueMorpho - they should treat it like a comic book, have an open and closed story in one season and then redo it in the MCU. No need to have it connected, if it bombs then oh well it was just one run at the characters.

Oh my god, this is the show that keeps on giving.
