Marvel Television's Netflix shows were pretty hit-and-miss. Daredevil was consistently the strongest of the bunch, though Jessica Jones, for example, declined in quality as time went on.
Iron Fist, meanwhile, wasn't great from the start and made a lot of blunders with Danny Rand. With Scott Buck, the showrunner responsible for Dexter's worst seasons and the abomination that was Inhumans, in charge, we should have known it would underwhelm. However, there were some solid moments and decent fight scenes, and Finn Jones did his best with the role.
There aren't many fans keen to see the Game of Thrones actor return as Iron Fist, and a new rumour suggests that he is done with the role. The DisInsider's Derek Cornell (who has a pretty reliable track record) recently took to Twitter to say, "I'm hearing they’re not bringing Finn Jones back for Iron Fist."
He'd later add that plans can always change, but we'd be shocked if this Iron Fist has a future in the MCU. Many fans would like to see an Asian actor play the character, and while that does somewhat miss the point (Danny was a wealthy businessman's son who found himself stranded in a strange land after a plane crash), it would certainly avoid the more uncomfortable cultural appropriation issues.
It's also worth noting that Marvel Comics recently introduced an Asian Iron Fist, and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is supposedly overseeing everything these days.
Charlie Cox has reprised the role of Matt Murdock in the MCU, but it appears Marvel Studios will just pick and choose which Marvel Television actors and characters they want to use. There are rumblings about Krysten Ritter showing up as Jessica Jones in the not-too-distant future, so only time will tell what becomes of poor old Iron Fist.
We're still rooting for a Heroes for Hire movie or TV show, though...
