It seems Marvel Studios is moving forward with the intention of adapting lesser known properties into live-action films. While Marvel has four more films under the preexisting distribution deal with Paramount, including
THOR,
Captain America,
Iron Man 3, and
The Avengers, soon Disney will be distributing their films. And now according to
Deadline, Marvel is moving forward with one of the films that Disney will distribute, Iron Fist.
"Marvel Studios is moving forward on a live action feature version of Iron Fist, hiring screenwriter Rich Wilkes to draft a movie based on a martial arts expert whose battle with a dragon--ended when he plunged his hands through the beast's molten heart-turned his fists into indestructible weapons."
It may be a few years til we see Danny Rand, whose power through concentration can harness his spiritual energy to augment his physical and mental capabilities, on the big-screen. In April 2003 Steve Carr entered negotiations to direct, and in November 2003 the release date was moved to 2006. Then in March 2007 Carr placed Iron Fist on hold due to scheduling conflicts. Since then, it has been unknown whether or not he'll be directing, or if Marvel Studios will find someone new.
Anyhow, though back in 2000, Ray Park was set to play the Immortal Iron Fist, who do you think could portray Danny in the upcoming adaption.
DCMF - Also, tt's well known that Marvel is adapting Luke Cage & Doctor Strange to the big-screen, so hopefully Marvel will be introducing these characters through solo films, and eventually create a
Heroes For Hire film uniting them all. Basically doing the same that they're doing With Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America for
The Avengers. What do you think?
