THE GOOD

I loved whenever this show delved into the mythology of the Iron Fist, Kun Lun,  and The Hand. We gain a lot of new information on The Hand in this, but unfortunately nothing on the literal plot hole in DD season 2. I also liked the characters. The Meachum family was very interesting, I especially liked Harold's storyline, though it got laughably corny at times.

Danny Rand himself is played impeccably by Fin Jones, who manages to capture all sides of Danny, from his child like optimism, to his status as a living weapon, to his PTSD from the plane crash that killed his parents. You can really feel all three of these things clashing against each other throughout the show. Colleen Wing had a great arc in the show.

Jeri Hogarth of Jessica Jones returns, and is great as always.

The fight scenes on the show vary but we do get to see some really great battles. My personal favorites were a battle between Colleen and her sensei in the rain, the Iron Fist against a literal drunken master, and the obligatory hallway battle( which actually ends up in an elevator)

THE BAD

Not enough Fisting

Joking.

I really wanted to see more of Kun-Lun on the show, but maybe next season.  Also, the show tends to drag sometimes, especially in the first couple episodes. Episodes one and two are especially hard to complete but believe me, it gets better. Also, in the first few episodes, Danny makes some very dumb decisions that serve no purpose but to get the plot moving. These can be ignored and rationalized, but I was yelling at the tv.

Overall, I would give the show:

6 Mister Fister multi speed Vibrating Fists outs out of 10

But seriously- four episodes in and so far so good. I find myself wanting to move on to the next episode right away, something that didnt happen every episode with DD or the second half of Cage.

I think the problem for me was that it was just incredibly slow paced up until the final two episodes where the ending was unsatisfying because it was not entirely clear on what the resolution actually is...

Without going into too many specifics, what we are shown might not be entirely accurate and many questions are left unanswered or simply never expanded upon. It also repeats several aspects of Doctor Strange which it also fails to do right. We really needed to have at least an episode or two set in Kun-Lun to develop characters and emotional ties.

Too much of the relationships or situations are told rather than shown - at one point Danny has a flashback to establish that red lights look like Dragon eyes... it means absolutely nothing to us as the audience because we never saw much relating to that prior.

At first I loved this series, but as they went on Danny became unbearable in his dialogue and immaturity. He resorted to childlike anger over near everything, and when even the slightest bit of logic was presented he just drew his lower lip further out and shook.
To be honest I believe it was the acting of Finn Jones. I think another actor would have been able to handle it much, much better. He acted like the 10 year old child that was lost in the plane crash. And yes I get that your excuse for that would be because of his traumatic experience, but if he were training in the greatest martial arts area in the world, he would be able to control these most basic of emotions in New York. I just felt like outside of the very few moments he actually displayed the Iron Fist powers were a waste.
I can't even mention how many times he mentioned he was the Iron Fist and what his purpose was. He became this religious converter that just got annoying with every instance that he mentioned it. I honestly felt nothing for him, outside of thinking he was a douche who thought he was this important savior yet couldn't do anything impressive until the final ep, and even then he only destroyed a single floor of a building.
Colleen on the other hand I loved. Everything about her was top notch. I thought her cage scenes were impressive, even though people think it wasn't, and I thought her story was very compelling even though Bakuto was an immense douche. Making me question if all martial arts people are self righteous dbags.
Davos seemed extremely forced to introduce him as a future villain and unnecessary, and the turn of Joy at the end was out of nowhere considering how she was present for her father's ridiculousness.
I hope Finn changes his acting for the character, because he came off like a self righteous douche. I do think it is the worst of the Netflix series but nothing worse than a 6.5/10. There were fun moments, however, the end was very forward of them to assume audiences would love it so much that they'd leave it on a cliffhanger that I honestly don't care to see.
I really wish Danny was someone who I could care about, but his constant reminiscing and self-involved sense of existence was unbearable. I don't need to hear about some guy who is blinded by ignorance for 13 episodes. He abandoned his post, yet he wears his position as a badge of honor. That's like a baker turning away from his oven and telling the customer to go [frick] themselves when the cookies are burnt.

I'm on episode 6 now. It's getting a little better though not enough to get 100% invested and a lot of things don't add up like how the hell can Danny actually be working at the company. I mean I know it's his name but he's been missing since he was a child and never went to college. Oh and he can drive a car, how? It's cool that Rosario Dawson and Madame Gao have joined the fold though it seems like Dawson is getting tired of being dragged into the same shit all the time. It does get a little tiring having her remind us that she was in the previous Marvel series.
