Over the holidays, some concept art allegedly from Ironheart started doing the rounds on social media. We didn't - and won't - share it here because it appears to be from a leak rather than an official release, but it contained three different designs for Sacha Baron Cohen's Mephisto.
The actor is expected to make his MCU debut as the villain in Ironheart, with a role in Agatha: Coven of Chaos also looking pretty likely.
While we won't be sharing any additional details on that aforementioned leak, reliable scooper @MyTimeToShineH is claiming none of it was real, anyway! They have, however, shared an artist's impression of what the MCU's take on Mephisto will more than likely look like, and we're guessing it wasn't what you expected.
It's true that there's something of a Lobo feel here, but we'd actually say Gene Simmons and Kiss are the bigger inspiration!
That Satanic Panic era of rock musicians often took their inspiration from devilish imagery, and it's fun to think Cohen's demon will be the basis for them in the MCU...or perhaps just a fan of their music! There's no way this take on Mephisto won't be divisive, but we'd argue that it's much better than an entirely comic-accurate version and a style the actor can have fun with.
At this stage, it's important to note that Cohen's involvement hasn't been officially announced and that this is not an official piece of concept art from the show; it's simply one take on a villain who could end up looking wildly different by the time we see him next!
Still, we're sure you'll all have something to say about this version of Mephisto, a villain fans have been champing at the bit to see on screen since before even all that WandaVision speculation.
What do you guys think?
