Rumors have swirled for months about Sacha Baron Cohen playing Mephisto in the MCU, and an artist's impression offers an idea of what the villain could look like following a reported concept art leak.

Over the holidays, some concept art allegedly from Ironheart started doing the rounds on social media. We didn't - and won't - share it here because it appears to be from a leak rather than an official release, but it contained three different designs for Sacha Baron Cohen's Mephisto.

The actor is expected to make his MCU debut as the villain in Ironheart, with a role in Agatha: Coven of Chaos also looking pretty likely.

While we won't be sharing any additional details on that aforementioned leak, reliable scooper @MyTimeToShineH is claiming none of it was real, anyway! They have, however, shared an artist's impression of what the MCU's take on Mephisto will more than likely look like, and we're guessing it wasn't what you expected.

It's true that there's something of a Lobo feel here, but we'd actually say Gene Simmons and Kiss are the bigger inspiration!

That Satanic Panic era of rock musicians often took their inspiration from devilish imagery, and it's fun to think Cohen's demon will be the basis for them in the MCU...or perhaps just a fan of their music! There's no way this take on Mephisto won't be divisive, but we'd argue that it's much better than an entirely comic-accurate version and a style the actor can have fun with.

At this stage, it's important to note that Cohen's involvement hasn't been officially announced and that this is not an official piece of concept art from the show; it's simply one take on a villain who could end up looking wildly different by the time we see him next!

Still, we're sure you'll all have something to say about this version of Mephisto, a villain fans have been champing at the bit to see on screen since before even all that WandaVision speculation.

What do you guys think?

It looks like a 70s /80s comic drawing, not a Ryan Meinerding concept art. I would put zero stock in this being real.

after all the build up for mephisto, they managed to get a pretty solid actor if true. design looks a bit corny though, hopefully it translates better in live-action

He’s making his debut in Ironheart. People were going to hate him anyway.

@PlusUltra - Nah, more concerned with how he actually operates in the MCU and why this film than anything.

@The1st - The protagonist of the show is female. Wherther its good or not is irrelevant, the hate is already brewing.

@Razorface1 - I hear ya. I guess I'm just an adult with access, so it's not an issue for me personally.

@Razorface1 - So, it's all about misogynist geeks and nerds eh? 🤔 Could it possibly be about not having patience for any more C-List characters being given prominent movie/TV-streaming time when there are still so many more heavy-hitters (both male and female characters) that continue to languish away unseen and unheard from in creative purgatory??? 🫤

@Razorface1 - And if it happens to be actually undisputably bad they will *never* shut up about it, bonus points if the actress expresses an OPINION (TM) and we'll see her face badly photoshopped on countless thumbnails for years to come.

I reckon he will look human for 99.9% of the show and reveal his true form just before he dies. It saves money and FX time

@Knightrider - 🎯🎯🎯

At this point, the only thing that would shock me is comic accuracy. I'm guessing he'll wander around being a meddlesome manipulator that tends to add "gravity" to situations when he doesn't get his way.

🎨 x 🔢, fill in the _____, 🦬 💩, topped off with a cgi spectacle that leads to something potentially more interesting in the next outing (which will also likely be dissappointing)disappointing.

My guess: Mephisto meets Loki in the last ep end credit.

@Knightrider - I was thinking something similar, but I'll take it a step further. As we all know, in the comics Mephisto is based on the Devil/Satan who in the literature (whichever literature is up to you) has been shown to be able to change his physical appearance at a whim, but in his true form is a nasty demon-looking thing much like Tim Curry in "Legend" (and unless I'm missing something this would be the first shape-shifter in the MCU, which is something that they are probably pretty eager to try out).

So I think that given the VFX to have him shift to various forms (i.e. demon, human, snake, etc.) for "Ironheart" they'll probably want to focus their VFX budget on her. But I think that we will see flashes of him in various forms in the episodes that he's in (probably just a couple to introduce him and have him the one that gives the Hood his powers as part of some deal and comes to collect later, like Devils usually do), but when we see him in his other forms it will be quick shots like a mirror/window reflection or something else that they don't have get 100% right as far as the VFX goes. Just enough to introduce him and his motivations and powers to the GA.

I think then that he will play a larger role in "Agatha" AND I think they will finally pay off at least some of all those Mephisto teases from "WV", especially considering that we know that Dotty is going to be in that show.

But I think that we won't get full-on demon mode Mephisto in Hell with fire and brimstone and such until a full-length movie with its movie budget ("Midnight Sons", anyone?).

Anyhow, that's just my long, rambling string of theories.
