An argument could be made that Jessica Jones is the best of Marvel's shows on Netflix as it was consistently good throughout its first season. The character also stole the show in The Defenders and excitement is building for the character to return this March. Thanks to Empire, we have some new stills from the series, one of which provides a first look at a mystery character played by Janet McTeer.

Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg says that "noir thrillers and character dramas" and "sometimes horror and action movies" served as the inspiration for season two but promises that "fans will definitely recognise moments from the [comic books]." To check out the new images, click either one of the buttons below and stay tuned for updates on Jessica Jones season two moving forward.

Here, we see Jessica coming face to face with Janet McTeer's still mysterious character. It's been said that she'll have a huge impact on the private detective's world moving forward. Who could she be?

Jessica is pictured here alongside Malcolm, one of her closest allies and someone who will seemingly continue playing a key role in her life moving forward. Things look a little tense between them, though.

Kilgrave may have been killed at the end of Jessica Jones season one but it appears as if the villain will still be getting inside the head of the show's lead character when it returns on March 8th.

"The Defenders" really soured me on the whole Netflix/Marvel shows. Maybe when "Daredevil" S3 shows up I'll watch, otherwise not particularly interested.

Still think Typhoid Mary is the best villain for her

@TheSoulEater - That would be AWESOME!

@TRexx21 -

Have her be another former victim of Killgrave's, it would be the perfect catalyst for her split personalities to cope with her already abusive past before meeting him, and cement her hatred of Men as Bloody Mary.

She would have something to relate with in Jessica, and maybe even fall for her because of that, all the while Jessica who understands EXACTLY what she's going through won't be able to condone what she does, and will have to stop her, which will prove to be more dangerous because Typhoid is Stronger than her, more savage, and was brought up as a fighter.

I don’t care too much for Marvel Netflix anymore. I’ll still watch but the fire kind of died down. Excited for Daredevil Season 3 though

every Marvel/Netflix show following the first JJ season has been varying degrees of disappointing for me. i'm ready for Hellcat and White Tiger to make an entrance and shake things up.

I know it wont happen, but I would love if the Sokovia Accords came into play this season, my personal headcanon has had the Netflix series all take place between SHIELD falling and the events of Civil War, meaning this is why SHIELD doesnt get involved (Coulson's remnants are too busy dealing with HYDRA & Inhumans)

but it would be the one perfect series to have the Sokovia Accords, as Season 1 of Jessica Jones had that great episode where the woman who lost her mother in the Battle of New York tried to kill Jessica in revenge. With Jessica now known as a superpowered killer to the general public, it would make perfect sense to have her be a prime target for the Sokovia Accords and have this be a theme in Season 2

then it could be picked up in the other Netflix series and how each of the characters reacted to it...but probably wont happen with the growing divide between the tv and movie sides of Marvel

plus I would love to Jessica investigating even more super powered threats this season, maybe even a potential Inhuman from Inhuman breakout from AOS, in addition to IGH-related threats and Nuke from Season 1
