It's been too long since we've all embarked on a good Easter Egg hunt, but there were plenty of opportunities to do so in the latest episode of Loki on Disney+.
Transported to The Void, the God of Mischief found himself surrounded by Variants and realities pruned by the Time Variance Authority; The Void is where they come before being consumed by a monstrous being known as Alioth, and it's only then they're truly deleted from existence.
A settling like this meant Marvel Studios could throw in a bunch of Easter Eggs, some of which feel like they could be teasing the finale or the Multiverse's future, and others that were clearly just for fun.
There are some crazy concepts thrown into "Journey Into Mystery," and with so many easy-to-miss references, we've got you covered with this look at the biggest and maddest efforts!
6. The Living Tribunal
The Living Tribunal is an unbelievably powerful cosmic entity that's existed as long as the universe itself has. Its sole aim is to safeguard the Multiverse from an imbalance of mystical forces, and it is the only one of its kind (it doesn't have any alternate universe counterparts, for example).
The comic book TVA claims to have even more authority over the timeline than even The Living Tribunal, but what could have led to this statue ending up in The Void?
This is certainly a curious nod to there being higher powers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and should the Multiverse explode into madness, it might be time for The Living Tribunal to step in. We could even see the cosmic being appear here to make whoever formed the TVA pay for the crimes.
5. Throg And Mjolnir
There have been rumblings online for several months that Throg might appear in Loki, and he does indeed get a blink-and-you'd-miss-it cameo in today's penultimate episode.
As the God of Mischief heads into Kid Loki's bunker, we see that Throg has been trapped inside a jar and is desperately trying to retrieve Mjolnir. In Thor: Ragnarok, Thor mentioned that his brother had once transformed him into a frog, and it seems this could be that Variant of the God of Thunder.
"T365" is likely a reference to the issue of Thor that Throg made his presence felt in way back in 1986.
4. Yellowjacket's Helmet
Further linking both The Void and whatever lies beyond it to the Quantum Realm is the unexpected appearance of Yellowjacket's helmet. That villain was defeated in 2015's Ant-Man, but a massive version of his helmet can be seen here, leaving us to wonder what Marvel Studios might be teasing.
It might just be that there was a version of Darren Cross who mastered becoming giant before Scott Lang, leading to him being pruned. However, with rumors swirling that we'll see the character appear in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, what if this is a sign he's somehow still alive?
Of all the characters that could have been teased here, this is an intriguing decision on Marvel's part.
3. Qeng Enterprises
Variants and branched realities are set to The Void before Alioth consumes them, and the destroyed Avengers Tower has an unexpected new logo on its side.
"Qeng" may not be a name that's instantly familiar to you, but in the comics, the company acquired Stark Tower from Tony Stark under the watchful eye of CEO Mr. Gryphon. He would later be revealed as one of Kang the Conqueror's many alter-egos, and this is another direct tie to Nathaniel Richards.
Another is a Sphinx that can be spotted while Mobius drives Sylvie around; it's hard not to look at that and wonder whether it's a cheeky not to the time Kang spent in Egypt as Rama-Tut.
2. Thanos Copter
As Easter Eggs go, this has to be one of Marvel Studios most...glorious...efforts.
First appearing in the pages of Spidey Super Stories #39 in 1979, the Thanos Copter was a yellow helicopter piloted by the Mad Titan during a battle with Hellcat over the Cosmic Cube. It was referenced in Avengers: Endgame via the blade the Mad Titan wields, but there's a reality out there somewhere that saw this Thanos pruned while flying around in his personalised chopper.
This is a weird, funny Easter Egg, but one that points to more than just Loki Variants having found their way into The Void. Is it possible that there's another version of Thanos in there somewhere?
1. Familiar Spaceships
Ronan's ship, the Dark Aster, can be seen at one point in "Journey Into Mystery," and while we're not reading too much into that, it's good to see Marvel Studios teasing its cosmic side in this show.
Even more interesting in some ways is the inclusion of a downed Helicarrier. We may be imagining this (and it's hard to say given the way the scene is lit), but it looks like there could be a huge red logo on the top of it...a HYDRA Helicarrier, perhaps? There have been rumors Chris Evans might return to play that villainous version of Captain America, so it's definitely feasible.
Talking of spaceships, the reason the U.S.S. Eldridge was included is because of the urban legend around it and the Philadelphia Experiment claiming the ship was transported to an alternate dimension where the crew was attacked by aliens.
