LOKI Season 2 Premiere Runtime Reportedly Revealed; Press Tour Will Not Include Show's Cast

Loki season 2 is fast approaching and we have news on the premiere's runtime (which, while brief, is pretty much what we expected). There's also news on what looks to be a scaled-down marketing campaign...

We're now just a few short weeks away from Loki's season 2 premiere and Marvel Studios will soon begin promoting the show in earnest. Another trailer seems likely, of course, and that's sure to be followed by various posters and TV spots (and perhaps even the odd featurette).

Unfortunately, the show's cast will not be on hand to hype up the show's return and share insights into what to expect from their respective characters.

That's due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike and, while Tom Hiddleston is British, he's also a member of that group. As a result, it's believed it will be down to Kevin Wright, one of Loki's executive producers, to do the lion's share of promotion for the Disney+ series.

In other news, it's been revealed that the first episode of Loki season 2 will clock in at 45 minutes with 6 minutes of that made up of credits. That's pretty much the expected runtime for many of these shows and it will be down to that opener to set the tone for what's to come throughout the rest of the six-episode sophomore season.

It's unclear whether episodes of the show will be sent out to press in advance, though it's possible they won't be in order to avoid spoilers from doing the rounds online prior to the premiere dropping on October 6 (either way, we'll have our usual coverage the day the first episode drops).

Are you looking forward to Loki's return as the Multiverse Saga continues? As always, let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

Loki season 2 picks up in the aftermath of the shocking season finale when Loki finds himself in a battle for the soul of the Time Variance Authority. Along with Mobius, Hunter B-15 and a team of new and returning characters, Loki navigates an ever-expanding and increasingly dangerous multiverse in search of Sylvie, Judge Renslayer, Miss Minutes and the truth of what it means to possess free will and glorious purpose.

The series stars Tom Hiddleston, Sophia Di Martino, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Eugene Cordero, Rafael Casal, Tara Strong, Kate Dickie, Liz Carr, Neil Ellice, with Jonathan Majors, Ke Huy Quan and Owen Wilson.

Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead, Dan Deleeuw and Kasra Farahani direct episodes. The Head Writer is Eric Martin.

Loki season 2 begins streaming on October 6, exclusively on Disney+.

It'll be 5 minutes long with loki deciding to undo everything that happened post endgame, giving a reboot to phase 4. Daredevil will start it off and he and spiderman will act as the new leads with kingpin as the first major antagonist.

@Origame - yeah, no way that's gonna happen. A reboot isn't gonna fix the issue that most (vocal) people have with the MCU now: the quality

We still need to see 10 minutes of credits every episode? No.. anyway where's the BATMAN DAY ARTICLE? Or is this website really that shilly for the mouse

@bobevanz - you're in a Josh Wilding article. What do you think?

When Indiana Jones 5 had a terrible opening weekend, he made an article writing about how "the flash is still a flop, and Indiana Jones 5 has a disappointing start".

I dunno about you but articles about runtimes excite me so much. Yeah Josh, talk about those sweet, sweet minutes but slower please.

@WhatIfRickJames - I love it when, just before he finishes, he says "What do you all think?" It drives me crazy.

@WhatIfRickJames - Damn I thought I was the only one. I was like "Is this a thing?" People really care about previews of run-times now?

@DarthOmega - not really

@Skestra - I don't like it either, but I'm guessing that since the more comments that we make create more pages and thus more ads, the the money is made.

Went back to check on the first season, and that had surprisingly long episodes compared to what I'm used to know from Disney+ shows. Might watch that season again before I dive into this one

@bkmeijer1 - I'm definitely watching it again before S2. There was a LOT that happened in that show in a short period of time (including lots of information that might have forgotten).

bkmeijer1 - 9/17/2023, 2:52 AM
@LSHF - yeah, I doubt a recap is gonna cover it. Those Legends bits are fun, but really don't cover everything.

And maybe watching it for a second time might help me appreciate the show like everybody else does. I might even watch Thor and Avengers again as well.

@bkmeijer1 - I've seen most of the MCU series (all but one) at least twice, and I always pick up things I missed the first time.

bkmeijer1 - 9/17/2023, 8:35 AM
@LSHF - definitely a reason I'll be rewatching the first season as well

A tv show should not have 6 minutes of credits.

Ep 2 runtime 26 minutes, 6 minutes of credits.

Haha thanks for clarifying that actors won’t do press during an actors strike. Hack.

You know this is going to be average at best, Loki will be nothing like the Loki we all expect, it will tease loads and deliver very little.

@Spike101 - do you have inside info?
Spike101
Spike101 - 9/16/2023, 10:40 PM
@Fogs - no sadly not, I’m just basing my opinion on the last one and the D+ shows in general. I’d really love it to be amazing but I always work myself up for each one of these shows and then end up disappointed when they arrive. I think I finally learnt my lesson with She-Hulk.
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 9/17/2023, 2:55 AM
@Spike101 - I think the only one that really disappointed me because my own massive expectations was WandaVision (the theorising between episodes didn't help either).

Loki and FATWS were pretty much spot-on, but even then I decided to go blank into all these shows. So far I actually enjoyed all of them.
Fogs
Fogs - 9/17/2023, 4:32 AM
@Spike101 - I see. Yeah, that's the MJ approach, lol.

The only one I was expecting more and didn't deliver that much was FATWS. Was good but not THAT Winter Soldier type of good.

I wasn't really expecting a lot from anything else, so they being mediocre doesn't really had an effect on me.

But maybe you're right, cause my expectations for a Loki series were lower than the rest, and to me it's easily the best one. Maybe that's just the delta ;)

Spike101 - 9/17/2023, 2:35 PM
@Fogs - ah the Winter Soldier, still my favourite movie.
Spike101
Spike101 - 9/17/2023, 4:42 PM
@bkmeijer1 - interesting as I really enjoyed WandaVision for the whole who done it thing. Loki and Moon Knight I really loved to until about half way through when the writing seemed to wander off. Loved Werewolf by Night too.
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 9/17/2023, 5:31 PM
@Spike101 - oh yeah, I still thoroughly enjoyed WandaVision as well. Don't get me wrong there.

I think every show has had the problem where it started meandering a bit in the middle. Also finales don't always appear to stick the landing.

Hope they do more specials like Werewolf, as that format really allowed for a tight, straightforward story
Spike101
Spike101 - 9/17/2023, 11:33 PM
@bkmeijer1 - I think we are pretty much agreed on those points. I’d dearly love them to land truly awesome show. They are obviously now trying to correct course and I think the first time we’ll see the result of that will be Daredevil, get that wrong and they’ll be toast.
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 9/18/2023, 2:54 AM
@Spike101 - I'm gonna be so disappointed if Daredevil doesn't stick the land. With 18 episodes I hope they can find a nice balance between episodic and serialised storytelling
