Loki's fifth episode, appropriately titled "Journey Into Mystery," introduced a number of Loki Variants, including Kid Loki. A fan-favourite character from the comic books, this younger version of the God of Mischief was revealed as The Void's ruler, something that surprised the Loki just as much as us.
However, when Kid Loki revealed that his Nexus event was killing Thor, it all started to make sense!
Clearly, this younger version of The Avengers villain was more formidable than his outer appearance suggested, and actor Jack Veal did a fantastic job conveying that on screen.
We were recently fortunate enough to catch up with the Loki star and asked what he believes led to Kid Loki becoming The Void's King (a position we know the President and Boastful Variants were desperate to acquire). It was then Jack revealed that Kid Loki has been trapped there for considerably longer than we imagined, while also explaining why his God of Mischief hasn't aged in that time.
"Many people don't know this, but Kid Loki is the oldest one in The Void. He was pruned thousands of years before and just didn't age because of The Void being the end of time as said by Judge Renslayer. It is also the sheer fact that he killed Thor. As I said, no other Loki would dare try or even do that successfully. That not only makes him the Oldest but the most intimidating as well."
The fact that Kid Loki has been in The Void for such a considerable amount of time is definitely interesting, especially as it emphasises just how long He Who Remains, a.k.a. Kang, has been attempting to keep the Sacred Timeline free of his Variants. As for this alternate Loki, Veal definitely made a lasting impression, and the hope among fans is that he could continue playing the character.
We'll have more to share with you from Jack soon, and you can read the full interview here tomorrow. In the meantime, make sure to check him out on Instagram @jack_anthony_veal!
