FAN MADE: Poster For A LUKE CAGE Movie Starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson

FAN MADE: Poster For A LUKE CAGE Movie Starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson

This fan-made effort is pretty damn good indeed, and apparently even fooled a few people around April 1st. Check out the - as of last night former - WWE champion as the hero for hire himself after the jump. Would you like to see this happen for real?

I'm not sure who Saoirse Ronan, Olivia Wilde and Bryan Cranston would be playing in this fictional movie, but I would assume one of the ladies would be Songbird anyway. I'm not really familiar with the old Luke Cage comics though so maybe some of you guys can better speculate. The poster was created by Mattias Fahlberg and you can see more of his work over at his Deviant Art page by clicking the link below.

Coming from a black guy, Luke Cage movie wouldn't appeal and wouldnt work. Just make a Heroes For Hire tv series.

But Iron Fist needs to be in it too if they make it.

Sure. Luke Cage wouldn't appeal and work, but GOTG will with animated talking raccoon's and tree's?

I think Luke Cage would work just fine if done right. And The Rock would probably do a good job but someone else would be better.

Marvel Knights movie with:

Punisher - Luke Cage - Blade - Daredevil - The Man with Iron Fists

Making Luke Cage work lies in an approach that doesnt take itself too seriously.

Making Luke Cage work on screen means that he can't be treated like a blaxploitation character.

Eh, not a fan. Too much like Iron Man and all that...what the hell is with the random sparky fire thingies all the time in movie posters? Why is everything on fire?! Someone should put that fire out!!!

I agree with SaxoWolf, that would be awesome. Punisher, Daredevil and Blade are established. Add Cage and Iron Fist and they can get their own movie after. Maybe add ghost rider. Does Marvel have him back?
Stumblin
Stumblin - 4/8/2013, 7:28 AM
His traps are too long and something isn't right with his arms either, his elbow are way too high and his shoulders are super tiny. The poster is a good effort but the anatomy is all [frick]ed up.

Great poster... the movie is still not appealing to me, I find it difficult to get interested in a Luke Cage movie.

You would def have to do a heroes for hire instead of Luke Cage alone.

Awesome! I could see why some people thought this was real. I'm not sure about The Rock as Luke Cage.

Someone more like Michael Jai White maybe.

@Batmaniac The Rundown, Walking Tall, and Fast Five.

Anyone that says 'The Rock' is not black enough...

Laurence Fishburne not white enough to play Perry White?

Ya see...seriously color does not matter so long as the portrayal is spot on...

I think Rock would make a great Cage...certainly has the size for it...

Some have lights, some have fire, some have rain, some have crumbling scenarios.. They tend to use that stuff in posters, they have to fill the empty spaces..

Neither him or Terry Crews really fit the role, IMO.

If they were to make a Luke Cage movie, I'd rather it be less of an effects movie, you know? Something that looks and plays out like a Tarantino movie, although Tarantino probably wouldn't direct it.
Stumblin
Stumblin - 4/8/2013, 7:41 AM
@nach1wan, not sure if you're joking or not. But no, they're not, it's the in thing with movie posters. Sparky fire thingies everywhere all the time. It's the same shit on every Iron Man 3 poster...or Modern Warfare game cover.
fungusmonkey
fungusmonkey - 4/8/2013, 7:42 AM
Luke Cage, like Tony Stark, is one of those characters you have to absolutely nail the actor for or it wouldn't work as well. And, like RDJ, Terry Crews is perfect for the role. I don't want to sound like "that fan", but if they made a Luke Cage / Power Man / Heroes for Hire film without him in that role... I don't know if I'd be as interested.

First off I want to say is I love, love, love The Rock. I think he's the only professional athlete to have both major success in sports and being an actor. But everytime there's a role for big, muscled guy. The first choice on everyones lips is The Rock. Yes he does bring that push you need to make a movie a ticket sale tickets. But there are other big, muscled, black actors out there. Especially for Luke Cage. I'm not hatin', just trying to make a point. Look at Chris Hemsworth who put on so much muscle for Thor. He was always a little ripped, but not God of Thunder big. So all I'm trying to say is there are other talented black actors out there who could be a perfect choice for a Luke Cage movie.

The gauntlets need a little work, but other than that, this looks pretty convincing. Not really on board with The Rock as Luke Cage, though . . .

@ChivesMcKay

Yes! Perfect! You know what? They should just get the whole cast of The Walking Dead and cast them in superhero roles. Haha. But, for real, Andrew Lincoln for Batman.
