Marvel has just officially announced that Mustafa Shakir (The Deuce, The Night Of) and Gabrielle Dennis (Insecure, Rosewood) have joined the cast of Luke Cage season 2, which is set to premiere in 2018.

Shakir will play John McIver, AKA Bushmaster, who is described as "a natural leader, brimming with charisma, whose mission is focused on Harlem and vengeance." Dennis, meanwhile, has been cast as Tilda Johnson, better known by her current Marcel Comics alias, Nighthawk. This incarnation of the character is said to be "a brilliant, holistic doctor with a complicated history in Harlem where, as much as she tries to stay far from trouble, it seems to always find her."

The pair join returning cast members Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, and Theo Rossi as Shades.

Note: We recenly got word that stage actress/singer Nabiyah B will play an incarnation of Tilda Johnson in Marvel's Black Panther, so... we're not sure what's going on there!

@TheFamousJMC - Actually, I think you're both right. While most of her career was spent as the character Deadly Nightshade, she recently took up the mantle of Nighthawk.

...but it sounds like she going to be Deadly Nightshade in the TV show.

@ODanil - At least they're being consistent with the snake-themed villains.

The thing about these casting being excited is that I get to find out about these kinda obscure characters like "Bushmaster".

I wonder where things will go.

I confused Bushmaster for Bushman and instantly started screaming because I thought Marvel was planting the seeds for something Moon Knight-related. :(

@InternalVitalty - "I confused Bushmaster for Bushman"

That's an honest mistake. Bushman is the Moon-Knight villain, and Bushmaster the nom de plume @McGee used to direct his amateur porn series happening in the world of female sumo wrestlers. I highly advise you check it out. It was absolute poetry.
