There's a lot of excitement for Moon Knight ahead of its launch on Disney+ later this month, and fans are already speculating about how the mythology surrounding the hero will impact the wider MCU.
Both the Moon Knight persona and Egyptian God Khonshu can be tied into this shared world's history, but executive producer Grant Curtis has suggested that the show will be primarily standalone in nature. "There’s no attachment to the current MCU," he teased. "He’s brand-new, and he is going on a brand-new adventure. We really think the fans are going to enjoy it."
This obviously doesn't mean that Moon Knight isn't set in the MCU; instead, Steven Grant/Marc Spector probably won't be tied to any other characters. We're sure by the time all is said and done, though, the hero is going to become a key player whose story intersects with The Avengers.
"There are multiple aspects of Moon Knight that get us internally jazzed at Marvel Studios," Curtis added. "But one of the unique aspects of this character is it’s taking Marvel Studios to its Iron Man and Tony Stark roots. That was a character that was obviously built from the ground up, and it is the same with Marc Spector."
"We’re absolutely embracing the supernatural aspects of what was in publishing, the Egyptian gods, this ruthless Egyptian god Khonshu that manipulates Marc to do his bidding," he continued. "We’re embracing all that. We love stuff that goes bump in the night."
Exploring the supernatural side of the MCU appears to be a priority heading into Phase 4, and if Moon Knight opens the door to werewolves, vampires, and more, we're now even more excited!
Moon Knight is set to premiere on Disney+ on March 30.
