A little while ago, we learned that Marvel Studios might have plans to introduce Werewolf by Night in Moon Knight, and while that's yet to be confirmed, it does appear that there are plans for the character.
Talking on the FatMan Beyond podcast (via ComicBook.com), filmmaker Kevin Smith spoke about working with the now-defunct Marvel Television on a Howard the Duck series. That show was set to be part of an entire animated slate of projects coming to Hulu, but when Marvel Studios took charge of all MCU content coming to the small screen, most of them were scaled back and ultimately scrapped.
Smith mentioned that he was looking to included Werewolf by Night in the show, but was told by former Marvel Television President Jeph Loeb that he was off-limits due to Marvel Studios' plans.
"I reached out to Walter Flanagan from Comic Book Men and told him I'm gonna take a stab at all the f***ing 70s characters," he explained. "Walt was giving suggestions and Werewolf By Night was absolutely on the list. In my head, as I started building my season, I was like, 'Alright. Episode 5. Werewolf by Night.' The idea of our story was that Howard was trapped here and he was trying to get pages of the Darkhold, which would allow him to go back."
"There's Howard as I'm laying it out and then I go into Jeph and told him what I wanted to do, and that's when they said 'You can't use Werewolf by Night,' and I asked why. They said the movie division was using him."
Seeing as Marvel Studios is about to introduce vampires in Blade, we shouldn't be surprised that a werewolf is also about to debut. First introduced in the pages of Marvel Spotlight #2 in 1972, Werewolf by Night has a storied history in the Marvel Universe and Moon Knight was actually introduced in the pages of Werewolf by Night #32.
With that in mind, Moon Knight could be the show to keep an eye on for the hero's MCU debut.
