Moon Knight arrives on Disney+ on March 30, and excitement for the next Marvel Studios adventure continues to build. An unprecedented number of episodes have been sent out to critics, and we can now confirm that the runtimes floating around are indeed correct.

While episode titles have not been revealed, the first is 45 minutes, the second is 50 minutes, the third is 50 minutes, and the fourth is the longest at 51 minutes.

These are similar to the runtimes for the six-part Loki and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and essentially means Moon Knight - minus credits - will eventually clock in at somewhere around five hours. This gives Marvel Studios more than enough time to introduce Marc Spector (and Steven Grant), hopefully setting the stage for him to be a major player in the MCU moving forward.

Check out another round of Moon Knight reactions, along with our own, in the Tweets below:

Assuming this includes credits, that still puts it on track to be longer than the other shows.

Off topic, but it seems The Batman is expected to drop 30% or something this weekend. Wow.

Thank god the episodes are that long. I hope it becomes a trend from now one for Disney.

@Fares - WandaVision was running off of a sitcom setup and those run 25 minutes +/-. The rest are all afaik 50+ minutes. So I don't see a problem.

@Fares - I think Feige (or another Marvel producer) said somewhere that they're aiming for about 6 hours per season. I interpreted that as "TV hours", which also accounts for commercial time. (Disney+ doesn't have commercials, but it does have long cinematic-style credits, so I think "TV hour" sets expectations and common TV pacing.)

For a 6 episode run like Moon Knight or Hawkeye, that's essentially a 40 to 60 minute episode length. For a show like WandaVision or She-Hulk with 9 to 10 episode runs, that's closer to 30 to 40 on average.

I also want more and longer runtimes, but I don't think there's a trend happening here: just a shorter episode count.

Spock0Clock - 3/18/2022, 5:27 PM
@JDL - I got curious, so here's the official runtime per IMDb:

WandaVision: 30 / 37 / 33 / 35 / 42 / 38 / 38 / 47 / 50 - 350 Total
F&WS: 47 / 47 / 51 / 53 / 57 / 49 - 304 Total
Loki: 51 / 53 / 42 / 48 / 48 / 45 - 287 Total
Hawkeye: 47 / 49 / 42 / 39 / 44 / 61 - 282 Total

If we assume 5 minutes of credits for each episode, that subtracts 45 minutes of total runtime from WandaVision and 30 from the rest, that leaves 305, 274, 257, and 252 minute runtimes (i.e. they have been getting a bit shorter, I didn't expect that).

If we translate that into 44 minute units (what I'm calling "TV hours"):

WandaVision: 6.9
Falcon & Winter Soldier: 6.2
Loki: 5.8
Hawkeye: 5.7

...So, around "6 hours" of typical commercial television, give or take, by my rough estimation.

@Spock0Clock - In general, I'd rather have longer episodes with less episodes rather than the other way around. Of course, certain factors may make an exception like the pacing, etc.

But aside from Marvel series, haven't Mandalorian and Boba Fett had generally shorter episodes?
Spock0Clock
Spock0Clock - 3/19/2022, 1:15 AM
@Fares - Well, let's see...

Mando S01: 39 / 31 / 37 / 41 / 35 / 43 / 41 / 48 - 315
Mando S02: 52 / 40 / 35 / 37 / 45 / 32 / 38 / 44 - 323
Boba Fett: 38 / 51 / 38 / 47 / 50 / 47 / 59 - 330

If we do the same discounting for credits, that's 275, 283, and 295 respectively for total "TV hours" of 6.25, 6.4, and 6.7, so roughly in line for Marvel's overall runtime. For a straightforward per-episode average (I'll including credits here because those are the most official numbers I have)...

WandaVision (39), F&WS (51), Loki (48), Hawkeye (47).
Mando S01 (39), Mando S02 (40), and Fett (47).

So, apples to apples, Mando is on the shorter end, along with WandaVision, while Fett was comparable of the longer Marvel shows.

If I were to try to extract trends here, it would be that in terms of weekly content, shows with fewer episodes mean slightly longer episodes, which isn't surprising. In terms of season runtime, though, more episodes means a longer season even if the episodes themselves are a tad shorter. In all, though, they're all very comparable.

Personally, I'm happy to see a show like WandaVision and Mando that may have a slightly shorter per-episode runtime, if it means a longer show in total.

@Spock0Clock - You should include What If...? Like WandaVision it went with the half-hour format but a longer episode count.

I’m really a fan of how The Mandalorian doesn’t really stick to any length format and just jumps around depending on what the story demands. I guess that goes along with it being more episodic though.

@BloopBlorp2 - "You should include What If...?"

What If...?: 31 / 32 / 30 / 35 / 32 / 33 / 35 / 28 / 33 - 289 Total

That's (32) minutes per episode. And (after subtracting 5 minutes per episode for credits) a total of 5.5 "TV hours" of content.

Totally agree about Mando. Of all these shows, it's the one that feels like it's the least restricted by structure or having to keep to a schedule for the season's overall arc. (It does still have a season arc to service, but it's just so much more liberated feeling for some reason.)

Very excited. And hyped for this Khonshu talked. I was so worried about the portrayal, but I love what I'm hearing. F. Murray Abraham has been disgracefully underrated for far too long.

But LOL at Josh's tweet - "None of the finales have disappointed yet" when the finales have consistently been the weakest part of these shows, excluding Loki and Hawkeye, to a lesser degree.

"The first episode of MoonKnight is easily the most compelling 45 minutes of TV I've watched in a very long time."

No it's not, this is just a standard human response to something that's just simply new.

This is just the dopamine talking.

I'm going to take a wild guess that we probably won't hear Khonshu speak for the first couple of episodes and he will appear as a ghost plaguing Grant, a la the trailers that we've seen so far. But ultimately when Grant/Spector realizes who he is, that's when we will hear Khonshu speak. And then it will ultimately lead to that scene that we've seen of Khonsho and Marc in the Otherworld (presumably).

While I haven't disliked disney marvel shows so far, I've noticed that in the first half of the series they always set up amazing exciting stuff but its always the second half where things fall apart. There's never enough time to explore all the threads introduced in the first half and the endings end up feeling lackluster
