THE PUNISHER And Billy Russo Jigsaw Exchange Gunfire In This New Season 2 Set Video

Billy "The Beaut" Russo is no more, but Jigsaw is out for vengeance! See Frank Castle trade shots with his old nemesis in a new video from the season 2 set of Marvel and Netflix's The Punisher...

After having his face shredded by Frank Castle towards the end of The Punisher season 1, it looks like Billy Russo will be back for revenge when season 2 premieres on Netflix this December.

Another video from the set has been posted online, and it shows Jon Bernthal's ultra-violent vigilante engaging in a gunfight with Ben Barnes' returning villain - however, he doesn't seem to be sporting any major facial scars.

Either the scars will be added in post, or this incarnation of Jigsaw won't be nearly as disfigured as his comic book counterpart. Though given the state Frank left him in in the season 1 finale (see above), we're leading towards the former.

Check out the video below, and let us know what you think.

I bet the scars will be added. Makes no sense why he wouldn't have scars.

Looking forward to season 2, first season was great!

I don't think his face is gonna be like a jigsaw puzzle like in the comics, I expect a few scare and a scrumbled cheek or something like

I wish they would add more scars with CG, although I highly doubt it.
Why can't just go all out with comic-bookiness.

Something like that would be perfect.

Wanting to cut off Frank's face, and obsessed with disfiguring all people.

Even though the first season directly addressed this in its own clunky way, it's still more than a little jarring to me to watch what could almost be real cell footage of a real shooter (all that's missing is the shaking of the camera).

Punisher remains in a very awkward place in 21st century culture. I'm not sure they (or I) have anything all that profound to say about it, but it's not getting less awkward.

@Spock0Clock - I’m all for getting rid of guns in the US, though I’m Australian and we already did over here so I would be. But I don’t see how Punisher is in an awkward spot. Last I checked most American action films and shows heavily feature gun battles. Punisher is an action show, with heavy military plots. Why should it get singled out? There are still action movies being released every day with vigilante shoot em ups in public. Movies have featured guns since the western and they’ll feature em for a long time I’d wager. If it featured mentally ill people going on shooting spree massacres on civilians I’d see your point, but otherwise why is it any different to, say, the Equilizer?

@connorblaze - I don't really see the problem myself, but it could be because of the heavy violence. Most action films are quite scaled back in terms of violence. I think the Equalizer and John Wick are the exceptions. You wouldn't see a film starring the Rock have the kind of violence the Punisher has. It's quite visceral and in your face. To put it another way it's very real. Every hit that Frank takes or dishes out a gallon of blood follows.

@connorblaze - I'm really "singling it out" in the context of comicbook material, where most heroes tend away from guns (though there are certainly scenes in some movies and shows that touch on that same grittier feel).

Are there lots of relatively grounded gun-happy series out there? Sure, and maybe it's just because I tend not to watch them that they're not on my radar in the same way.

In any case, I'm not lighting my hair on fire about it, just registering my own mild-to-moderate discomfort. I've been thinking a lot lately about things we do today and how they will look through the lenses of future generations and Punisher may end up not looking so hot in hindsight.

@Spock0Clock - See I kind of agree but at the same time I don't yes there's no denying gun violence has gotten worse but this is the punisher a fictional character who's known for his use of firearms and violent antics and it's dumb too criticize a tv show over something like that if it bothers you that's a personal problem and you probably shouldnt watch the show and that's fine but don't bash a tv show over something tragic that happened in the real world

Re: Scars

They may be going for the Doctor Doom thing where he actually doesn't have all that bad a scar owing to some heroic plastic surgeons. But because it's not perfect, he ends up obsessing about it and scarring himself even worse.

It'd be a way to stretch out the Jigsaw storyline into another season and put off the really difficult make-up work until later and in smaller doses. (Not that I'm advocating for it, or anything.)

I suppose that the other option is that he’s using a fake face mask and will peel it off at some point to reveal his mangled, actual face.
Spock0Clock
Spock0Clock - 5/30/2018, 9:29 AM
@Chewtoy - I like that better than mine. It may be a little Mission Impossible goofy, but if that's the square they have to circle to get this in within their budget/scope and still have a few pointed scenes with gruesome scars, then I'm all for it.

Even better if they go the whole nine yards and have some subtle prosthetic lines and effects on there.
Chewtoy
Chewtoy - 5/30/2018, 10:18 AM
@Spock0Clock - I'd kind of like for him to have one of those SHIELD masks like the Black Widow used in "The Winter Soldier" (and I think they showed up on Agents of SHIELD as well) for continuity's sake, but I suppose they're a bit high-tech sci-fi-ish for this show.

Of course, the Red Skull had a really good fake face all the way back in WWII... I could see them lifting a bit from that film and having Frank punch Jigsaw early on, shifting his face out of alignment as a tease for what will be revealed later.

The no scars thing reminded me of how bad the cgi blood splatter was in the first season.

🙁

The Punisher needs to utilize squibs.

I was kinda hoping we'd get a season where Frank deals with bad guys completely unrelated to the death of his kids. Also underwhelmed by Billy's face here, Frank needs to smash him into that mirror a couple more times.

This could be a nightmare Frank is having.. Guess I should now say cgi, as it's the saying of the day.

Really looking forward to watching S2. The Punisher and DD are the best marvel TV shows so far. JJ is good but S2 was average at best. Luke Cage, Defenders and IF were a let down IMO.

People keep complaining about the scars. It could be a really long shot, which would make it pointless to waste money on makeup.
