WANDAVISION Director Says The Series Explores Wanda's Trauma; TV Spot Brings Back Her AVENGERS Costume

Yesterday, Marvel Studios held a global press conference (online, of course) for WandaVision, the first of their TV shows to arrive on Disney+. We'll no doubt have plenty more to share from that with you today, but some comments from director Matt Shakman are of particular interest.

The Scarlet Witch from the comics is a damaged individual, but the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Wanda Maximoff has also faced her fair share of trauma since first appearing in Avengers: Age of Ultron

Shakman says that WandaVision is focused very much on "grief and trauma and how we hold onto our hope." As for how that connects to Wanda, he points out that "[she] is probably the person who has suffered the most of anyone in the MCU...and so the show is always grounded in that."

He drops one final tease by stating, "Even though what you see are faithfully recreated television shows, there's a lot more going on than meets the eye."

A minute-long low-res TV spot for WandaVision has also started doing the rounds on social media. Take a close look at the final few seconds, and you'll notice that Wanda is wearing her costume from the Avengers films. There's also something weird going on with the Time Stone in The Vision's head (we still have no clue how that's returned after Captain America returned it to the past).
