We finally saw Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) become the Scarlet Witch and don a striking new costume in last Friday's final episode of WandaVision, but it looks like Marvel Studios toyed with the idea of a more comic-accurate look for the character back around the time she was first introduced in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Concept artist Andy Park has shared his original design for Wanda's headpiece, which ended up being rejected in favor of a more "real world" outfit.
"SPOILERS (kinda... so don’t read if you haven’t watched WandaVision yet)! This is my attempt years ago to get something on Wanda’s head that somewhat mimics her classic headdress/crown. I knew it wasn’t gonna get any traction. But I couldn’t resist! In her early appearances in the MCU the directors wanted somewhat more of a real world feel rather than a comic book costume feel... I’m so happy that’s all changed!"
Park would probably agree that the headgear Wanda sported in "The Series Finale" of WandaVision looked a little better than this! To be fair, it wouldn't have made as much sense for the hero to wear an elaborate costume before she fully embraced her powers and transformed into the Scarlet Witch.
