The last time we saw the Scarlet Witch, she was being buried under the rubble of Mount Wundagore in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness after a pretty definitive heel turn.
Wanda will almost certainly return at some point, however, and when she does, Elizabeth Olsen has a very clear idea of where she'd like to take the character.
Olsen was asked what changes she'd like to see Wanda go through when she does return to the MCU during a panel at San Antonio's Superhero Comic Con, and said that she really wants to "figure out the whole mutant thing. I just would love to explore [X-Men] so much.”
Of course, the Scarlet Witch was introduced as a mutant in the comics, and played an integral part in several major X-Men arcs over the years, including the controversial "no more mutants" House of M storyline.
Will Olsen ever get the opportunity to delve into Wanda's mutant heritage in the MCU? Possible spoilers ahead!
Though there's a chance this is completely bogus, a plot "leak" for Deadpool 3 did the rounds online recently, and it claims that the Scarlet Witch is going to play a big role in the movie. We won't get into specifics just in case these details do turn out to be accurate, but it sounds like Wanda will be at least partially responsible for mutants being introduced to the MCU.
We do know that the Deadpool threequel is shaping up to be a far more wide-reaching Multiverse adventure than we first thought, so nothing would surprise us at this stage.
If Wanda doesn't appear in Deadpool 3, you can bet she will be back for either Avengers: The Kang Dynasty or Secret Wars.
