Up until now, it looked a lot like What If? would simply tell the stories of alternate versions of familiar faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, a newly revealed poster has teased possible wider consequences for the series as a new team is brought together by The Watcher.
Are you ready for the Guardians of the Multiverse?
As you can see below, the group is comprised of Peggy Carter/Captain Britain, Erik Killmonger, T'Challa/Star-Lord, Gamora, Black Widow, Doctor Strange, and an alternate version of Thor.
That's quite the lineup, but what threat could lead to Uatu travelling through the Multiverse to assemble this team in this animated series? That remains to be seen, but What If? just got a whole lot more intriguing, and is likely going to have bigger consequences for the MCU than we initially suspected. After all, The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels have had an impact on what we've seen in live-action, so chances are the same will be the case here too.
