Struggling "Heroes" Dumps Writers

One season wonder "Heroes" is still losing viewers, and NBC has sacked two writer-producers Jesse Alexander and Jeph Loeb.

Both had been with the show since the beginning and were known as the right-hand of creator/exec producer Tim Kring.

Heroes has struggled in the ratings its third season after a disasterous second season. It's rumored that Alexander and Loeb were let go because of NBC execs' frustration with the creative direction of the show (How surprising that, yet again, the non-creatives muck things up). The show is also said to have been overrunning their budget.

It looks like there will be no ressurrection. The show is dying a slow death.

<RANT> Did anyone else see this coming? The first season was good even though it was an obvious rip-off of X-Men, but right from the beginning, they didn't seem to have a plan after they "saved the cheerleader and the world" the first time. I kept asking myself, what are they gonna do the next season. Hmmmm? Maybe, save the world again? TV needs to take a clue from the successful movie franchises and turn it over to the comic book creatives and fans of the genre. Now they have dumped the two writers who could've brought it back. It's just typical. The suits have won again. </RANT>

I loved the first season...then it ended and went right down the pooper. It just seems to have no point now, no ending in sight. Lame.

But then again, my main gripe with Heroes is that it seems to follow the same formula with each season. So maybe bringing in some new blood will be a good thing, I'm not ready to give up on Heroes yet!

Me neither!!! Sure there are some loopholes, but I've been really impressed with season so far. There's more special effects, and there's no car drive for three episodes like last season!!

The first season sucked. Then all of the other seasons sucked. Not much to figure out there. Hey can you guys please repeat this line for me "Save the cheerleader save the world"... Good. Now keep repeating it until it makes you throw up and you'll basically have the show in a nutshell.

The show was an all around bad idea.. First plagurize the X-men. Get a bunch of people that can't act their way out of a paper bag. Then patronize the viewers with an inane plot and repetitive story telling devices. Oh, and make sure not to have an overall theme because it's not like you think you'll make it past the pilot to begin with. Lazy. Then just let the show go on forever, eventually interest will fade and you'll have to cut off the few fans who actually give a rats ass mid-season some year.

Seriously. Smallville is better than this. At least that show doesn't even pretend to be comprehensive. Actually have you guys ever heard of a show called Mutant X? Look it up. Even THAT is better.

You can't solve a bad idea with more money.

This is a very good show, it gets a little boring at times but what TV show doesn't? It's always good to have superpowered beings on TV. I think this show has a lot of potential, we'll see what happens.

Actually as a I have been reading X-Men comics since they began in the early 1960s I can tell you that although the X-Men may have been the inspiration for Heroes, Heroes is hardly a "rip off" of the X-Men. Where is the sage in the wheelchair who leads them? Where is the central HQ hidden under an estate? Where is the futuristic training facility and the souped up jet that is more advanced than anything the Air Force has to offer? And in the X-Men where is the covert private organization that is cataloging, tracking, imprisoning and killing those with powers? Plus we have learned this season that many of the characters had their powers induced by the "Company." If anything the show is more of a rip-off of Lost as Heroes follows the base-line formula of many characters with their own story arcs that intertwine to weave the main plot. The show is great and worth seeing ~ last season hurt due to the writers' strike. Nut I believe the recovery is in sight.
