Today's episode of The Book of Boba Fett spent a lot of time in the present day (post-The Mandalorian), revealing more about the threat the former bounty hunter is facing as Tatooine's new ruler.

The series wasted no time in sending Krrsantan after Fett, and a brutal fight ensued that culminated with the Wookiee assassin being locked in the empty Rancor's pit beneath Jabba's throne. The Twins (Jabba the Hutt's cousins) soon show up, and apologise for sending Krrsantan after Fett while presenting him with a gift in the form of a brand new Rancor. They also say he can keep the Wookiee, but the former bounty hunter later chooses to free his attempted killer.

However, the biggest surprise comes when The Twins confirm they're leaving Tatooine because it's not worth getting involved in the war that's coming.

Thanks to Mos Espa's mayor, they were mistaken in thinking Tatooine had been left to them, with the reality being that Jabba's kingdom has been promised to someone else. We don't learn who that is, but the Pykes later arrive on the planet after it's revealed that Mayor Shaiz has been working with them.

Something tells us the Pykes are working for the show's true big bad (we'd still bet on Crimson Dawn being involved), but as the episode ends, Boba Fett declares it's time to prepare for war.

Meanwhile, in the past, Fett travels into Mos Eisley to meet with the Pykes and demand credits for safe travel through the Tusken Raiders' lands, but they refuse to pay both them and the speeder-riding gang of crooks we've seen in previous episodes. Fett vows to deal with the group, but when he returns to the camp, the outlaws have killed every single one of the Sand People.

Ugh. Not a good episode, I thought. Rodriguez is a shit director these days. Space hipsters on the flying Vespas? Come on.

@Dotanuki - Jon Favreau shouldn't be the sole writer for all these episodes. Nobody had the courage to tell him no to flying vespas lol

@Dotanuki - that shit was ridiculous. some shit i could understand that would be in Solo but not this.

@Dotanuki - Haha. The episode itself was the best one so far, in my opinion. But the swoop bike gang was ridiculous. And that chase scene was horrible. They all looked like they were moving so slow. Just horribly done.

But as far as the story, it did the most so far to move things forward.

Having said that, I haven't been really engaged with this series. It's just not that great to me, overall

Episode was weak ! Major missed opportunity for Dengar to show up or some better characters Boba could hire - we don’t need hipsters on bikes - Seeing Danny T was cool as he’s always employed with RR - the Wookiee fight scene was weak , the chase scene looked fake as hell - oh man this one hurt lol - starting not to appreciate Boba removing his helmet - we need the story to progress a little more - I did see some Easter eggs that will be fun to read if others saw … weakest of the 3 eps.

This episode had some serious turds in it and only a few gems. A cyborg moped gang, seriously 🤦‍♂️

Underwhelming for everything other than the flashbacks and Rancor. That slow speed chase and that hipster gang was cringe, even for Kennedys standards lol

@bobevanz - this should have been a movie, Boba is losing that mysterious magic we had surrounded the character

It's a very bad TV series. The whole premise was off to begin with. The cast is blasé. Morrison is not capable of carrying a series. Ming-Na Wen plays every character exactly the same. They are always the dangerous, non-charismatic, woman who seems tired and robotic.

@ManDeth - I think the series is mediocre overall, but for me, Morrison is the best part. I find him to be very charismatic and watchable.
ManDeth
ManDeth - 1/12/2022, 6:34 PM
@DavidMullich - I think he and Ming-Na Wen are low key and too much alike. I believe Morrison needed a young, quirky female sidekick. Maybe one that is like a nerd who won't shut up. But instead, they basically imported Melinda May from AOS into the show.

@ManDeth - I agree about Ming-Na Wen.

The designs of the biker thieves is all off. They look too clean and well-off, to be taken seriously as a dangerous lot, needing to steal. Sophie Thatcher is killing it over on Yellowjackets though.

I'm surprised that the Tusken storyline is wrapped up so quickly. I'm hoping that some of them, especially the warrior and child characters were only taken prisoner and not killed off. Seemed to be a wasted opportunity since we've only just started to get attached to them.

So like, am I crazy or is this show bad?
It has a great cast, but thats about it.
Maybe Boba could stop taking off his helmet. It wouldn't fix all the problems, but it might help.

What I don’t get is when Jabba was in charge he had a palace full of guards, workers, musicians and all kinds people hanging out and partying, but now it’s just Boba, his lady a droid and 2 guards plus the new hipster crew “which horribly stands out on Tattooine cause they have nice new clean clothes and bright shiny swoops”
And that chase scene through the streets was so slow uneventful and boring.
This show is doing a terrible job at keeping me interested, only good parts are the Tusken flashbacks.
I really wanna like this show but they’re making it very difficult for me to like it.
AnthonyVonGeek
AnthonyVonGeek - 1/12/2022, 9:49 AM
@Waddles -I thought of that but I figured that while a big part of his workers died during that battle I thought that they’re would still be guards and workers left at the palace to keep watch and keep it running while they were at the sarlacc pit. 👍

@AnthonyVonGeek - once Luke annihilated the barge, the party was over. Power vacuums lead to shifting priorities and the party goes elsewhere

I continue to like it, but I do not like the Pykes as the big bad. Hoping/expecting they're a red herring and once they get dealt with, the "real" threat will emerge.
JustBrootal
JustBrootal - 1/12/2022, 9:58 AM
extremely underwhelming Krssantan fight, didnt need to happen if they were leaving and were gonna tell boba to leave either. a joke of vespa speeders and mos eisley hipsters.
SauronthePower
SauronthePower - 1/13/2022, 1:19 AM
@JustBrootal - I took it as an opportunistic Hail Mary to grab power quickly by eliminating Boba and consolidating the remnants of Jabba’s cabal under their umbrella. Once their champion assassin failed, the Hutt’s analyzed the cost-benefit of the situation and decided that it wasn’t worth their tome because they had underestimated Boba as simply a mindless upstart.

I actually kinda liked the biker gang and their rides. Of coarse young local punks are gonna have the most obnoxiously colored, stand out in the crowd kinda swoops. Had a real American graffiti vibe to it. Also god bless Danny Trejo.

This article says his greatest opponent? Do you really rate the Pykes higher than Mace Windu or members of the Rebel Alliance?
SauronthePower
SauronthePower - 1/13/2022, 1:22 AM
@GarthRanzz - he never fought Windu and was an independent contractor not tied to the Rebellion or Empire by the time he was of legitimate fighting age

GarthRanzz - 1/14/2022, 12:44 AM
@SauronthePower - He fought Mace in the comics. Also pretty sure he ended up in the sarlac pit by tangling with some rebels.

I felt like i was watching Alita :Battle angel with that ridiculous bike gang. Keep Rodriguez away from star wars. And honestly by humanizing Boba fett they’re taking away what worked with the character to begin with. which was the mystery behind the character.
