When Boba Fett returned in The Mandalorian, fans couldn't help but notice that he was decked out in some unusual attire. Wearing a black cloak, the bounty hunter was also wielding a gaderffii and rifle closely associated with Tatooine's Tusken Raiders. At the time, we assumed Fett had just killed some "Sand People" and taken their weaponry in order to survive the planet's harsh surface.
It makes sense when you think about it, as we all assumed Fett had spent years searching for his armour before crossing paths with Din Djarin.
Well, in today's episode of The Book of Boba Fett, we learn a little more about the title character's time with the Tusken Raiders. After teaching them how to use speeders, Fett helps take down a train being used by the Pyke Syndicate to transport spice across the Dune Sea. Warning them that they must now pay a toll for crossing through Tusken land, the former bounty hunter is fully accepted into this tribe.
However, he must first go on a crazy mystical quest to find the tree branch that will ultimately become his gaderffii. Decked out in those familiar black robes by the Tusken Raiders, Fett forges his weapon and is officially one of them now. Clearly, something happens to prompt him into donning his old armour again and that could explain why he decides to try and rule over Mos Espa as a crimelord.
Whatever that is will no doubt be addressed in the coming weeks, but there's a compelling mystery at the heart of The Book of Boba Fett which is likely to explain a lot about the journey Boba is now on.
