The latest episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi featured a flashback to a happier time in this Galaxy Far, Far Away. Taking us back to Anakin Skywalker's stint as Obi-Wan's apprentice, we saw the Jedi Master attempt to teach his student a lesson during a heated lightsaber duel that drove home the fact that Anakin has a desperate need to prove himself and win.

This no doubt goes back to his upbringing as a slave on Tatooine, and is one of the reasons most of the Jedi Council didn't want him to be trained. You have to believe Anakin was left constantly feeling like he had to show them he deserved to be there, and that was ultimately a big part of his downfall.

Fans have been closely studying this scene since the penultimate chapter of Obi-Wan Kenobi dropped on Disney+ this past Wednesday, and a couple of very cool Easter Eggs have now been spotted (via SFFGazette.com).

As you can see below, much of this fight reflects Obi-Wan and Anakin's duel on Mustafar. On both occasions, Anakin's arrogance got the best of him and ultimately led to his defeat. Clearly, Kenobi's lessons didn't have the impact on his Padawan that the wise Jedi Master hoped they would.

Another big Easter Egg can be seen when the way Anakin aggressively attacks Obi-Wan reflects the way Luke would, years, later, overpower his father. The difference there was that he knew when to stop and realised that there are other ways to win than by fighting. It's surprisingly heartbreaking when you stop and think about it, but also a very clever nod for what's come before.

Oh. So that’s why the fight choreography was suddenly competent. They copied and pasted.

Two people having the same fighting style as..the same people? That qualifies as an easter egg?

@Cap1 - you don't think that when they choreographed this fight, that they didn't try to lay parallels to other duels or take inspiration from other moments in star wars history?

I had high hopes for this show but it’s really really bad.

Really nice callbacks.

one callback that I haven't really seen be mentioned was in ep 4 when Obi-Wan rescues Leia from Reva's torture and she says that she didn't tell them anything.

Obi-Wan responds "I know" just like Han did when she told him she loved him in Empire

I still would have liked to see them add the “high ground” lesson in that fight so it has some context in ROTS

I thought the flashback episodes were great and some of the best stuff in the show. Overall, I’ve really been enjoying this series. Glad it rebounded after the awful episode 4. Hopefully they can stick the landing in a satisfying way.
