Moff Gideon didn't really make much of an impact in The Mandalorian's first season until the last couple of episodes, and two instalments into the show's second year, there's still no sign of the villain.

In the finale, Gideon (who is played by The Boys' Giancarlo Esposito) emerged from the wreckage of his downed TIE Fighter and stood tall with the Darksaber in hand. Season two is expected to reveal how the ancient Mandalorian weapon ended up in his possession, while the actor has hinted that we can expect him to see some action with the blade last seen in Star Wars Rebels.

Now, some new promo art has surfaced online which shows the Moff looking ready for battle with the Darksaber in hand. We don't know how much Din Djarin knows about the weapon, but assuming he's aware of its history, you have to believe that he'll want to return it to his people.

Topps has also shared some artwork depicting the title Mandalorian, a Stormtrooper, and The Child.

In season two, the Mandalorian and the Child continue their journey, facing enemies and rallying allies as they make their way through a dangerous galaxy in the tumultuous era after the collapse of the Galactic Empire. The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Carl Weathers and Giancarlo Esposito, and the first three are highlighted here alongside The Child.

What do you guys think about this new artwork from The Mandalorian?

If he ever signs with Marvel, have him play Kang

If he ever signs with DC (he actually has voiced a few characters) have him play Darkseid

@dracula - Isn't Jonathan Majors playing Kang? Did I dream that?

@dracula - I'm kinda on board with it with him as Osborn, but I get that having him as a villain again is also starting to become a trope like sean bean dying in almost every movie he is in

@bkmeijer - yeah its becoming a trope, but can you really see him as a hero, something about him just screams villain, like Michael Douglas.

@dracula - ...which is what makes Douglas such a good Hank Pym, I think. You cast him as a hero and he brings a darkness with him that is immediately more nuanced. (Sort of the opposite of what they did with Redford.)

If they cast Esposito as Blue Marvel (for example), it immediately creates wrinkles and nuance to what we all expect when we see him in a series like this now. How he navigates our expectations could be as much a part of the character as the performance itself.

The series is fine, but I do get frustrated with how slow and episodic it still seems to be. Those spin-off series can't come soon enough.

Give me an X-Wing Squadron spin-off, honestly. I'm loving the little peeks we see of the Rebellion trying to hold the galaxy together with their unique brand of dorky frontier regulations as the Imperial forces recede.

...Also cast Charlie Cox for Wedge Antilles, if I'm making a list of requests.

I'm tempted to watch... But I found season 1 to be surprisingly boring.
