THE MANDALORIAN Star Pedro Pascal Teases "Epic" Season 3 And Plans To Revisit Season 1 Plot Threads

The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal has teased Lucasfilm's "epic" season 3 plans and confirms the show will start addressing some of the lingering questions fans have had since the first episodes dropped.

From the very beginning, The Mandalorian hasn't really let up but, at the same time, the story has been something of a slow burn. We still don't know what Moff Gideon wanted with Grogu, for example, though there have been strong indications that the villain has a vested interest in cloning.

Given his loyalty to the Empire, we have to believe he's looking to lend a helping hand to Emperor Palpatine as he looks to create a new body for himself following his "death" in Return of the Jedi. There have already been hints that Gideon might play a role in Supreme Leader Snoke's creation, but will the upcoming third season finally start to shed some light on what he's up to?

Talking at D23 over the weekend (via SFFGazette.com), The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal teased the show's epic scale ahead of its return and confirmed that we will start to see a payoff to some early season 1 plot threads.

"I mean it's epic, it's definitely epic," he teases in the video below. "And we're going to get a lot of things that were introduced into the storytelling early in season 1, themes and ideas that you'll remember once we get into [the] full fruition of Season 3, and it's epic, epic...but I'm not lying, it is epic...the amount of times I say 'epic' gives everything away, okay?"

One of the biggest unresolved storylines from season 1 is, of course, what Gideon and that clone engineer, Pershing, were up to. If that is the case, then we can surely expect some huge revelations.

Throw in the fact that we still don't know who rescued Grogu from the Jedi Temple and Din Djarin being the new wielder of the Darksaber, and there's quite a lot for the next batch of episodes to delve into. That includes what looks set to be an epic fight to retake Mandalore, possibly explaining why Pascal chose to double down on that word!

The Mandalorian season 3 is set to premiere on Disney+ sometime next year.

@DarthOmega - next up are Waititi's movie, and J.D. Dillard's movie, Rian's trilogy and D&D's (if they're still a thing).

Really wouldn't be surprised if the next time we see Star Wars on the big screen is if we're watching Episode X ten years from now.

@bkmeijer1 -

I think you’re probably correct about this actually. I’d rather not have a flurry of SW pictures by a bunch of different directors. Certainly not Taika’s or Patty’s.

Now, if Feige were to do a KOTOR Trilogy ? I’m in

@HagridsHole1 - that would be pretty sweet. Even just a story set during the Old Republic, and it doesn't even have to be Feige.

If Feige is still doing a Star Wars movie (which I doubt, because since the announcement he also added the D+ side of the MCU ti his plate), I kinda expect it to be similar to Jon Watts' show instead.

I think you are spot on. Nobody was happy with the most recent trilogy or the rest of the movies they put out quite frankly. They made their money but are not worth watching over and over. I also think they put Favreau and Filoni at the center of the maelstrom to create new star wars stories and are happy with the D+ stuff for the time being. If it takes another 5 or 6 years for good stories to develop it's no big whoop 'cause we have the Mandalorian, Boba Fett and the other stuff that is coming out on the small screen.

@bkmeijer1 - Sorry, Kathleen Kennedy lol. I think her goal is to stick to TV shows and not worry about doing blockbusters aside from Indiana Jones.

@HWestRE420 - oh yeah gotcha. I think (or rather, hope) so too.

With Star Wars, I feel that that really is an event. And if we're getting so many big screen movies, it just stops feeling special

I really wish they kept The Mandalorian in the November/December release period. If it's really gonna be epic again, I wanna watch the finale during Christmas again. Ending the year with Luke's return was just great

@TheShape9859 - but the wait is too long. Guess Andor and Bad Batch can give me enough Star Wars in the meantime though

I really hope this doesn’t connect with the sequel trilogy too much, because that would just be so disappointing. It’s perfectly capable of standing on its own, in its own little corner of the universe.

More Cobb Vanth please

@HagridsHole1 -
It's already linked. Moff Gideon was using Grogu's blood to find a way to clone a body for Palapatine. It will be loosely connected but not centered on that.

@HagridsHole1 - I would prefer a limited series starring Cobb Vanth and Valance's debut.

@JFerguson - it ain’t over yet. Mando done out-cooled Boba friggin Fett. Love me some Carl Weathers. But killing Cad Bane was a mistake. However, him killing Timothy olyphant, who I like a lot as an actor and pretty much all his characters, was perfect.
