STAR WARS: Anthony Daniels Dons A Mo-Cap Suit To Tease His Return As C-3PO For Upcoming Project

Star Wars legend Anthony Daniels has taken to social media to tease his return as iconic interpreter droid C-3PO for an upcoming project, but this time he'll be bringing the character to life via mo-cap.

Anthony Daniels, who has played C-3PO in all nine films in the Star Wars Skywalker Saga as well as several animated spinoffs, is set to reprise the role yet again for an upcoming project set in the galaxy far, far away, and the actor has taken to Instagram to tease his return as the notoriously anxious interpreter droid.

The veteran actor shared a photo of himself donning a motion-capture suit, which obviously suggests that he won't be back in the physical Threepio costume for this appearance. Daniels also makes reference to the issues he had with the tight-fitting, uncomfortable practical outfit in the past.

While Daniels doesn't reveal what he's working on at Ealing Studios, we assume it's the upcoming Star Wars: A Droid Story Disney+ special from Lucasfilm Animation and ILM, which will see Threepio reteam with R2-D2 to guide "a new hero" on some unknown mission. There are other possibilities, of course, but this is the only currently scheduled Star Wars project set to feature C-3PO (that we know of, at least).

Check out the photo down below, and let us know if you're looking forward to the return of the saga's iconic droids in the comments.
