Atari, and Cryptic Studios, developers of City of Heroes, City of Villains, Champions Online and Star Trek Online, have revealed the Nemesis Confrontation event for Champions Online. On November 24, players will face their greatest Nemeses in a battle to protect our universe from being conquered by an interdimensional evil.

"We wanted to take our unique Nemesis System to the next level and do something really awesome with it," said Bill Roper, Executive Producer of Champions Online. "So we asked ourselves, what if your Nemesis could band together with your buddy's Nemesis to take you on? Epic."

Players will learn that their uniquely handcrafted Nemeses are trying to create a rift into another dimension in a plot to take over the Champions Universe. To save the world, a band of superheroes will need to defeat their ultimate enemies, as well as a host of dangerous alien gladiators and prison guards in an all new environment. The Nemesis Confrontation event will also launch alongside a free weekend of play that takes place between November 26 and November 30.

Champions Online taps into a rich universe of heroes and villains with unparalleled intrigue and adventure. Cryptic Studios has taken the genre to new heights with Champions Online’s fast paced, “real time” action combat and the power of total customization. Through Champions’ unique character customization tool the player can create and individualize every component of their hero: name, back story, costume, powers and abilities can all be modified in countless ways. In addition to allowing players to transform into the ultimate hero, gamers can craft an enemy of the extreme opposite, concoct a villainous history for their ultimate foe and guarantee themselves a truly unique experience.

@ Josh - Yeah, I'd say I've put about 8-10 hours in so far. I've been doing side quests & stuff but I'm only just getting to the second city (Tuscany) now, so I think it's got tons of playtime. And none of it has felt repetitive thus far. I'm loving it! :)

Been on City of Heroes for years. Just got Champions. The two games have some similarities, but are different enough to be fun. Champions is more "Arcade-y" while City of Heroes/Villains is more turn-based. Champions lacks a lot of content, while City of * has tons of content. Personally, I don't like the "cell-shaded" graphics in Champions as much. Champions is a new game with a lot of work yet to be done, while City of * has 5 years worth of content and refinements. City of * is supposed to come out with a new expansion soon, which allows Heroes to become Villains and Villains to become heroes, plus an entire new zone. Champions is still rolling stuff out that wasn't included in the launch and fixing bugs and balancing gameplay.

Champions is more suited to solo play, with smaller teams and weak "supergroups." City of * is very good solo or teams, but has the ability to make supergroup basses. And you can be a Villain as well as a hero.

Both of them are pretty easy to start with, but are very complicated if you really get into the crafting end of things. Champions is a lot more confusing, while City of * has tons of player-written guides.

@local - Don't forget the fact that in City of Heroes the enemies are actually worth killing for XP and in champions They're just worth it for killing time.

@ Local Man You consider doing the same repeatable quests and minimal pvp a ton of content?

Personally, I have no interest in PvP. There are a lot of mixed reviews on the PvP part of City of Heroes/Villains, but I don't pay attention. Some people love it, others don't. I tried the zombie thing in Champions . . . meh.

City of Heroes has lots of good stories and writing, with some subtle humor and pop references. The objectives for missions have a decent amount of variety, but the maps get a little repetitious in some cases. Some of the scripted mission arcs have unique maps, and some are visually quite interesting like the extra-dimentional Shadow Shard. The several of the task forces are really well done. The one thing I really miss from CoH/V is the ability to pick stuff up and throw it. In some instanced missions, you can destroy stuff, but you can't pick it up to use as a weapon. Champions allows this.

Champions has more "corny" writing, but not as much writing that I consider to be "good." And the lack of content really hits from the teens to 25. That will probably improve over time. It needs more instanced missions, which CoH/V has plenty of.

I don't know what you are talking about as "the same repeatable quests." There are only a few spots in the game where this happens. CoH/V also allows players to write and publish their own missions -- something unique in the MMO world as far as I know. Some of those can be quite good, and they are even inviting guest authors to write missions.

OK so I play City of and Champions. But yeah u r completly right City of is more MMO and CO is more action based borderline button masher. Champions will fail if the 360 launch FAILS. Champions release date was unrealistic nerfs come everyday and huge patches all the time. But it all depends on what u like to play.
