I thought the movie was a good take... Yeah, I love the old Mortal Kombat cartoon, but hey... they killed Johnny Cage... that rocked.

It seems just like the Mortal Kombat that made MK famous... Blood, Gore, and kicking ass.

...welcome to the dark side, my brother. We have punch and pie...

...and a free gaming network.

@ Grif: "they need to go back to 2d games. "

This month's Game Informer had an interview with Ed Boon, wherein he stated that he would be going back to the 2d-sidescroller-fighter format that made the franchise famous....you may yet get your wish, my friend!

I liked the original Mortal Kombat film. Was it great? Hellz no! But it was a lot of fun and actually did something that most video game to film adaptions fail at: create a world and stick to the rules of the world in which you create. The sequel was just terrible though.

That Mortal Kombat rebirth short-film was cool at first and I admire what the director was able to create with such a low budget but he completely missed the point of the games, fantastic characters in a fantasy world tearing each other apart. I don't want "realistic" versions of the Mortal Kombat fighters. NOTHING about the games was realistic except when someone was hit or stabbed or what-have-you, they bled.

As for the game, I'm ecstatic that my boy, Johnny Cage, is back. He's always been my favorite Mortal Kombat character. :)

@Integrity

the Mortal Kombat Rebirth is alright but no way i want it as a movie. Mortal Kombat Rebirth short film was actually done to sell WB on the director Kevin Tancharoen vision for a reimagined MK film.

Ed Boon the creator of MK games liked the short but he also feel this wont work as a film cause it takes away all the MK Mythology

I did enjoy performing Batman's "Finishers" on people.

1. Batman takes you up into the air and off-screen and does who-knows-what with you before driving your violated body (and pride) into the ground.

2. Does his best Nolan Ryan impression and slaps a device on you that brings thousands of disease ridden bats to feast on your tender flesh.

Other than that I quickly grew tired of the game. It just screamed, "WE WANT TO BE LIKE MARVEL VS CAPCOM!!!"
