Prince of Persia No Longer on the 3D Bandwagon

Due to an error of the teaser poster being displayed along the wall of Disney's 3D releases, the film was thought to be a 3D release...but the posting was simply an error.

Disney recently highlighted all of their soon-to-be released 3D theatrical line-up and somehow in the slew of films, the Mike Newell release "Prince of Persia: Sands of Time," was present. The idea placed many fans on opposite sides of the fence...some welcomed the idea of seeing Jake Gyllenhaal in 3D but many others felt disgusted by seeing yet again another film taking the route of 3D rendering.

A Disney rep put an end to the matter by announcing clearly the film will not be released in the 3D format and the poster was merely an error at the recent Disney D23 fan convention.

This comes as a relief to those opposing the 3D trend because the film wasn't shot in 3D and this means the 2D portion would be processed into 3D and this process is considered by many to water down the 3D effect, therefore making the transition pointless.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time will be released in theaters on May 28th, 2010.
