SDCC '11: Nathan Fillion Expresses Further Interest In Starring In Uncharted!

Talking at the San Diego Comic Con, Castle star Nathan Fillion has revealed that he's definitely interested in playing Nathan Drake, and has a VERY unique idea on how exactly he might be able to nab the role...

When David O. Russell was attached to direct the adaptation of Uncharted, the hit video game series and upcoming comic book series from DC, fans were disappointed to learn that it would be Mark Wahlberg who would likely fill the shoes of Nathan Drake. Nathan Fillion has been a fan favourite since the beginning, and following the news that Neil Burger had taken over the project and would be starting from scratch, the buzz surrounding the Castle star has begun anew. Well, here's what he had to say on the matter when talking to Screen Rant this weekend.

"I am certainly still interested in playing Nathan Drake. I think every actor I know wants their action-adventure hero, their Indiana Jones. That would be a good one for me, I think. What I don’t want is people pressuring that poor man [director Neil Burger] and souring him on the actual idea. If we could somehow just… do you remember the movie Inception? I think that’s what we need to do. We need to let him land on the idea on his own."

What do you guys think? Is Fillion the right man for the job? Share your thoughts below and stay tuned for more news on Uncharted as and when we have it.

Bradley Cooper's probably the best choice out there right now, but Fillion doesnt seem bad either.

who cares how old he is? Sam Jackson is in his 60's and he plays a badass Nick Fury. I have a man crush (no homo) on Nathan Fillion so I say yes

Too bad. He doesn't have the time to play Ant-Man, then he doesn't have the time for this. Tough nuts.

I know he's a bit old for the role, but he should have been Hal Jordan imo :/

With a better over team that made the movie too of course.

Im not against the idea but i have always imagined Drake to be more younger.

Anyway hope they make a whole new story for the movie. Seeing one of the game stories in the big screen feels kinda pointless cause they are kinda movies their selfs.

He's the man for the role.
But if not him ,then Danny Devito or Billy Ray Cyrus or Don Rickles or Tweedle Dum or Pat Sajak or Ron Stoppable
or the Easter fraken' bunny. Who else?! Who the hell else!!
Nathan Fillon FTW!

Keanu Reeves is a cool dude, but for the role of Drake,we need a guy who can REALLY act.

I don't se why Sony would even consider him for the part to be honest.

This is a big budget video game to film adaptation. Its a risky project. They don't need someone who only looks the part, they need someone who is gonna sell tickets.

Nathan Drake is one of the most dynamic video game characters around. They need a solid actor who can bring out his sense of humor and has a good track record at the box office. I think Bradley Cooper is the man for the job.

I think nailbiter was being sarcastic, Uncharted news is posted all the time on here, so he should know what it is by now, especially being an editor, he shouldn't have much of an excuse NOT knowing lol.

@Vikeme, Nathan Fillion's comedic style is identical to Nathan Drake, hell, when I was playing Uncharted for the first time, I thought it WAS Fillion doing the voice work. It's ridiculous how much they sound and look alike, which is why everyone wants him to be Drake. There are some actors out there who are just born to be who they play, like RDJ as Tony Stark. Nathan Fillion is Nathan Drake in every shape and form. His age is the only factor (in case they do sequels), but he can easily get into shape. I personally don't think he looks that old at all, go watch Slither and tell me he doesn't look 30-ish in that.

But if they are wanting to go for a younger/sexier Drake, then yes Bradley Cooper would be a good pick.

To all the people who are saying he is too old and he is fat, that is the dumbest excuse I have ever heard. Because its not like loosing weight, toning up, and bulking up are things that are common practice among actors for roles. Plus Nathan Fillion looks exactly like Drake.

Samuel L. Jackson is in his 60's and he is playing an amazing Nick Fury that looks like he may bein this 40's at the most.
