New Lara Croft Alicia Vikander Talks Love Of TOMB RAIDER Video Games And Prep For Action Sequences
Tomb Raider star Alicia Vikander has talked about her secret love of the video games as a child and shared some insight into how she's preparing for her demanding action scenes as Lara Croft.
Total Film (via Games Radar) recently caught up with Ex Machina star and Oscar winning actress Alicia Vikander to discuss her role as Lara Croft in the highly anticipated and long overdue Tomb Raider rebot, and she revealed to them that she's always been a fan of the character...in secret! "I kept it secret – I didn’t have many girlfriends who shared that interest, but I really loved it," she revealed. "I did play Tomb Raider back then, even though my parents said I wasn’t allowed to." No stranger to blockbuster fare, Vikander starred in The Man From U.N.C.L.E. last year and very nearly landed a role in Assassin's Creed before choosing Jason Bourne. However, Tomb Raider is sure to be her biggest challenge to date.
A big part of that is obviously going to involve shooting demanding action sequences, something director Roar Athaug (who was responsible for well-received disaster movie The Wave) will no doubt make a priority here. Still, Vikander is taking all of that in her stride. "I danced for many years. I really enjoy the aspect of being able to work with my physicality. In one way, I can probably do that unconsciously," she says. "But in this, it’s going to be a whole other level. It’s always wonderful when you get the chance to try things out that you never thought you would be able to do, to push yourself and your boundaries." Are you looking forward to seeing Vikader's take on a new Lara Croft?
