Eidos and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today announced the Insane Night Map Pack, a free downloadable map pack for the critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham Asylum action adventure title. Beginning September 17th, the Insane Night Map Pack will be available from PlayStation Store, Xbox LIVE Marketplace, and Games for Windows LIVE Marketplace, and offer gamers two new Challenge Maps to hone their FreeFlow™ Combat skills and test their Invisible Predator™ prowess.

In the ‘Totally Insane’ FreeFlow Combat map, players will be tested to their fullest as scores of escaped lunatics bear down upon BATMAN as they make their escape through the asylum’s secure records facility. These fast-moving foes will challenge all but the most practiced players, with quick reactions and expert timing needed to fend off wave upon wave of insane inmates, bent on taking down the DARK KNIGHT. In the ‘Nocturnal Hunter’ Invisible Predator map, players take on a wholly different approach, practicing their predatory skills to remain in the shadows, utilizing the Arkham watchtowers and Batman’s arsenal of gadgets to gain the upper hand on The Joker’s army of goons patrolling below.

The Insane Night Map Pack will be available from September 17th for PLAYSTATION3 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, and the soon to be released Games for Windows LIVE edition.

In Batman: Arkham Asylum, developed by Rocksteady Studios and based on DC Comics’ Batman license, the Dark Knight takes on his greatest challenge yet when he becomes trapped with all of his most dangerous villains inside the insane asylum of GOTHAM CITY - ARKHAM ASYLUM! Since its release, Batman: Arkham Asylum has garnered the acclaim of gamers and critics alike, achieving an average score of 92 from reviews around the world*, earning it a Guinness World Record for ‘Most Critically Acclaimed Superhero Game Ever.’

Batman: Arkham Asylum is rated “T” for Teen and is available for PLAYSTATION3 and Xbox 360 for the suggested retail price of $59.99. It will also be available for Games for Windows LIVE at retail outlets for the suggested retail price of $49.99 on September 15, 2009.

@TheCritic17 - You've got to get your hands on a copy! I've been meaning to write a review up, but I can't stop playing it. I finally found all the Ridller clues and "Spirit of Arkham" recordings, but now I'm going through all of the predator and combat maps :o)

this game is totally overrated. You never fight , penguin, Mr. Freeze, Clayface, Riddler, Catwoman, or even two face. The substituted the cool villains which we all love with a bunch of boring super mutants that we've seen in about a million other video games. Plus the game itself is INCREDIBLY restricting and you spend HOURS searching for stupid clues and not fighting. I'm not saying that this game is bad, but it could have been WAY better. definitely not a 9.5 game, I'd probably give it more of a 6.

@RemiMartini, u are a big, big, dumbass, retarded idiot. This game right here, this game right here is the very best comic book related game ever. And I do mean ever. Get a clue knumb nuts, I mean look at it. Someone get Remi Baby off the floor and finish him off already!!

@joshw24.. Fallout 3 is one of the most awesome games ever!! Hope you're enjoying it!!

On the article.. I'm all for the free challenge maps but I'd love it if they released like more storyline adventures.. I'd definitely pay for those. Sort of like the GTA addons on Xbox.

I'm still trying to get that Platinum Trophy on Arkham Asylum! The only other platinum I have is on Legends of Wrestlemania.. lollll

I'll agree with RemiMartini in saying that this game is in fact incredibly restrictive (without any reason) but i'll also agree with theothegreat in saying that it is in fact the very best comic book related game ever. I give it a 4 on 5. Had it been less restrictive and had more diverse stealth actions, it would have easily gotten a perfect mark. IMO, InFamous still beats this game for "Game of the year". But to each's own. The thing that's really starting to grind my gears is that the more they release stuff on the net, the more i realise that i paid full price for half a game. That [frick]ing sucks no matter how you look at it. I don't have the network on my PS3 and i won't be able to get it for a while so i'm shit outa luck.

RemiMartini: dude, they're probably saving them for the sequel! I personally wouldnt call Killer Croc, Scarecrow, Bane, Poison Ivy or The Joker 'boring'!

Imran: im loving it man! Im about 11hrs in and its not feeling in the least bit repetitive which is definitely a good sign! i kinda wish that cash and weapons were a little more easier to come by though...:(

Shaman: I honestly still cant say which i preferred - mainly because they're so different! Infamous might just beat Arkham Asylum because of the freedom and great story twists but after now getting the Platinum in Infamous I cant see myself playing it again whereas Arkham has still got one more playthrough left (to get the Hard trophy) but once Ive done that i guess then ill decide whether it'll be worth playing it again!

This game raised the bar for ALL super hero action games. This game is hands down the BEST Batman game ever made and I will tell you why. This game incorporates all the things we love the most about Batman: Martial Arts Mastery, Detective Skills, Wayne Tech, and Kevin Conroy doing his voice from the animated series. This game had a great story and it incorporates some parts from the Graphic Novel Arkham Asylum itself. If you like Batman then you will like this game.

Josh- Oh for a replay value, they're both equal IMO. They're also equal in story and gameplay. Although B:AA has the upper hand on the graphics, InFamous just has more to offer that apeal to me. If B:AA was free roaming with a better variety of stealth skills, it would beat pretty much any game ever made. But until they create that game, InFamous is just better IMO. I'm really hoping they break the mold for the sequel to B:AA!!! I don't want them to simply stick with what worked and copy/paste a quick sequel. I want them to add everything that lacked in the original. There are great games out there to serve as blueprints as well as their own ;)

For item incorporation and puzzle/detective work- They did pretty good but could go further along the lines of what Resident Evil has done since it's inception. I think "Code Veronica" is a great example of what they could add.

For graphics- They're unbeatable! THAT, Eidos should stick to!!!

For the environment and basic controls- InFamous should be used as a blueprint. The post apocalyptic city they created screamed of Gotham! And the way you could manouver through the city freely was breath taking. At the very least you should be able to grapple anywhere you wish and jump when you want to.

For Stealth Skills- "Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven" is unmatched! They could take a thing or two from that game. Maybe even hide in shadows like in Manhunt ;)

And for fighting- Well they have established a great system but it does leave little to creativity. I say they keep their system BUT also have the option for a harder combat control for users that wish it. To be able to block, counter, grapple, throw at one's whim would be amazing. The latest "tournement fighting" controls would work wonders.

Amazing!! Looking forward to it. I beat the game in 5 days and found all the riddler trophies/Spirit of Arkham thingys in that time as well. Was so much fun, and I love how they made the secrets into Riddles and such to find, was a great idea. I just have to play all the Challenge modes now too. This was probably...no..it was..the best Batman experience of my life yet lol. Can't wait for a sequel game!!!
