AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Alum Adrianne Palicki Reflects On That Failed WONDER WOMAN Pilot
Long before Gal Gadot was cast as the big screen Wonder Woman, Adrianne Palicki was chosen to play the hero for a TV series that never went past the pilot stage. Here's what she has to say about it...
Warner Bros. may have scrapped plans to bring Wonder Woman to the small screen since Gal Gadot was cast as the Amazon warrior but there was a time when the hero was on track to become part of the NBC family. Adrianna Palicki was chosen to play the iconic DC Comics superhero and she even shot a pilot which was surprisingly violent and even included the Invisible Jet from the source material.
During a recent interview, Palicki was asked how she feels to have played Wonder Woman - albeit for a very brief spell - and while she clearly regrets the show not getting past the pilot stage, the actress seems grateful to have been given the opportunity to suit up as such an iconic comic book character.
"I was devastated when the pilot didn’t go," she reveals. "But I also look at it, like, I got paid to wear that costume. And that is one of the coolest moments of my life running down Hollywood Boulevard. Like, that was so cool. And I was — how lucky am I. And you know, everything for a reason. It led me here. You know what I mean? So as dark as those moments were back in the day, I’m happy and so glad that somebody else gets to wear that costume. I’m so glad that [Gal Gadot is] rocking it."
Palicki was given the opportunity to play another superhero after being cast as Mockingbird in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. but had more bad luck when a spinoff series revolving around her character also failed to move past the pilot stage at ABC. Do you wish she could have stayed on as Wonder Woman on TV?
