Lynda Carter Thinks WONDER WOMAN Deserved An Oscar Nomination And Is Willing To Appear In The Sequel

Lynda Carter, known for playing Wonder Woman on TV in the 1970s, has been nothing but complimentary of the modern cinematic iteration of the character. In a recent interview with The Daily Beast; Carter took that praise even further, complimenting its lead actress and director, then even going so far as to say that the film deserved some recognition at the most recent Academy Awards.

I’m very close to Patty, and I think Gal Gadot did a wonderful job. I was really happy to see they showed a clip of the film during the Oscars, even though they didn’t nominate it for anything. Anything. It should have been nominated. They were left out of special effects, writing, everything. Patty did an amazing job. The essence of the character is not an easy one to find the right balance of. Patty got it.

Along with Carter, many others also felt that the movie was snubbed at the Oscars, as it didn't recieve a single nomination.

Another thing that Carter mentioned in the interview was the cameo appearance most assumed she would have in the first Wonder Woman movie which simply didn't occur. Patty Jenkins has stated in the past that she wanted to work with Carter on the film but didn't have the right opportunity. Jenkins also said that she hopes to have the iconic actress appear in the sequel which, based on her response during the recent interview, Carter is more than willing to do:

We'll see what Patty does. I don't know how she's going to do it. I said to her, 'Whatever you want to do is fine with me.

Do you agree with Carter that Wonder Woman was deserving of an Oscar nomination? How would you like her to appear in the upcoming sequel, which is set for a late 2019 release?

@MosquitoFarmer - There's really only one Comicbook movie that you could make a case that would deserve an Oscar nom (not for acting but for best picture) and that would maybe be The Dark Knight, and even that I don't fully agree with. But I believe that's the closest comic book movies will ever get to best picture noms

Wonder Woman did deserve some sort of Oscar nomination. I personally think it should have been nominated in the costume design.

Though I think Patty should have been nominated, I mean look she got a great performance out of Gal IMO!

And Gal should have received one for being a Cutie!
