Opinion: Making a Wonder Woman CBM

Wonder Woman has struggled to claim her spot alongside the rest of the trinity in the DCCU, she must to impact in the big screen with all her might, a lot of might.

One of the complaints we have against WB/DC is the incapacity of the company to bring the fans favorite Wonder Woman to the silver screen, it is tricky has been said, if we take as a referent the (popular on its time) TV series of the late 70’s, we can say that the character is well known among a segment between 30 and 40 years old that are not comic books readers.

But if we think about this precedent, then it could be hard to take the approach of let's say, showing the character as a one capable to fly by her own and to be an equal in strength to Superman. Wonder Woman is one of the most powerful characters in the DCU, virtually Supergirl and Power Girl are not match for the amazon goddess, but this is not the image for which she is known for a part of the moviegoers and that is not the image that it was about to be introduced in the never aired tv pilot (a boob bouncing picture comes to my mind). There is also the take of WW from the animated series "Super Friends" where WW was like in the TV series, thankfully we've got fresh in the mind the image of the sexy, tall, strong and sexually aggressive, I mean confident, ass kicking Wonder Woman of the 2001’s animated series "Justice League" (the same series that made John Stewart kind of relevant).

I like the approach taken in Superman/Batman: Apocalypse, an WW capable of smack Supergirl down to the ground right in front Superman, proving she is stone cold and showing her leadership and fighting skills all along the film. Fans cry out load for Gina Carano to take the part, nice, but in my opinion, an actual fighter is not needed to get the role, we need a good actress to do the acting and let the stunt woman do the stunt (did somebody say Uma Thurman in Kill Bill?).

As someone said in this site, with the upcoming The Flash tv series there is a window to introduce a powered amazon warrior aside from WW, which may let the world knows the existence and abilities of the citizens of an ancient, all ageless woman, monarchical, secret, greek gods prayers society, uff!

Ok guys, don't take into account my English and shoot!

I thought Lucie Lawless made a great Wonder Woman in the 90's. Eh, what's in a name really?

The biggest issue the filmmakers and the unaired TV show have with WW is they are trying to modernise her. I say they should not even go there. Keep her Greek mythology roots, give her monsters and gods to slay and make her an EQUAL of Superman. Just do not try and make her fit into the modern world by having her have a job, and commute and try dating. Rather have her come to the world outside of Thermiscyrae on a mission of some kind.

Personally, I think the New52 should've debuted her alongside JLDark. She has the mythical, magical background that suits JLD. Her and Shazam should've been the in JLD. I know zilch about the N52 save that JLD is the magic-based team. I agree it should have monsters at first and transition to villains. See my WW fancast if you will for my take

Lena Headey... just Lena Headey...
Just make the movie a greek epic set in modern day but, y'know, better than Clash of the Titans (Wrath of the Titans was pretty badass, though).

Agree. Not that this is a bad editorial, but I agree WW sucks. To me she's one of the silliest and lamest characters out there. Second only to Deadpool...
