TENET Still Set For July Release As WONDER WOMAN 1984 Star Gal Gadot Comments On The Film's Delay

We're seeing an unbelievable number of movies and TV shows hit by COVID-19 delays, and movie theaters are starting to empty right into July. It was only a matter of hours ago that Wonder Woman 1984 was pushed from June to August, but there could be some good news for at least one summer blockbuster!

Deadline has revealed that, as of now, Christopher Nolan's Tenet is staying firm with its July 17th release date. The anticipation is that the global theatrical marketplace will be back to normal by then.

We can't say whether that will happen, but there's not a snowball's chance in hell that The Dark Knight director allows his movie to be released on anything other than the big screen. A delay is still possible, however, and it probably won't be until late May/early June when we have a clearer idea of whether Tenet will be released in theaters as planned.

In related release date news, Gal Gadot has taken a break from singing "Imagine" into her phone to share her take on Wonder Woman 1984's release date delay.

"In these dark and scary times, I am looking forward to a brighter future ahead," she told fans via her Twitter. "Where we can share the power of cinema together again. Excited to redate our WW84 film to August 14, 2020. I hope everyone is safe. Sending my love to you all."

If Tenet isn't moving for the foreseeable, Spider-Man movie Morbius is probably safe for now as well.

If this crap doesn't die down by July, screw it, I'm going to Oa. Save a seat at the lunchroom for me, Hal.

I was sad when No Time to Die was moved. I'm pissed that there won't be an A24 movie I can watch for a while.

If tenet is moved, then COVID-19 just made a very powerless enemy

Seriously at this point how about give everthing their original release date and just move everything to 2021, and just push that stuff to 2022 and so on

People always look forward to summer, but this time it's for different reasons.

I wonder how long the shutdown would have to last for big studios to actually just decide to release their BIG blockbusters on digital and streaming services.
1 year? 2 years?

@WackyBantha - considering there's no way a movie like tenet will get its money back on streaming, that ain't happening anytime soon.

Wishful thinking, but what if the virus just disappeared suddenly? How do you think studios would go about rescheduling things? Honestly a situation like this has hyped up these movies even more. So I doubt it would matter if they were released close together.

August 14 is a bad date. This is going to cost them a hundred million or three and God help them if something like the original IT is released in September.

To be honest I think by july 17th most cinemas will be opening again, so I think this movie might be the movie summer starter (together with Top Gun Maverick, as that is also slated to open july 17 here)

@MalseMarcel - if we cant get back to normalcy by then, then we'll have much bigger problems in general.

@MalseMarcel - Even if things are under control enough for business to resume, I suspect movie-going in general might take a substantial hit. It may take years for the box office to get back to what it was, if it ever does.

WB kind of needs Tenet out to build Pattinson’s stock to help the Batman box office give it a little extra sugar.
