Earlier today, Gal Gadot indicated that she will be staying on as Diana Prince in a third Wonder Woman movie, and we may have some new details on James Gunn and Peter Safran's plans for the character.

Prior to James Gunn and Peter Safran announcing Chapter 1 of their new DCU slate, all signs pointed to Gal Gadot parting ways with Wonder Woman to make way for a new take on the character, but Gunn never actually confirmed that she was done as Diana during the "Gods and Monsters" reveal.

Earlier today, Gadot indicated that she would be staying put as the iconic DC Comics hero, and was developing Wonder Woman 3 with Gunn and Safran. This has led to some confusion, but we may now have a little more to go on.

According to insider @CanWeGetToast, Patty Jenkins was all set to return to helm the third movie, but Gunn felt that her take "didn’t fit with where he wanted to take Wonder Woman in the DCU." The original script was scrapped, but Gadot will be back as the Amazonian hero.

However, this new project won't be Wonder Woman 3!

Even though Gadot is staying in the role, it sounds like the movie will serve as a DCU reboot that will retain certain elements of the previous films and ditch the rest.

The source has a strong track record, but we'll obviously have to treat this as a rumor for the time being. Hopefully, Gunn will weigh in with some clarification soon.

So the same approach Gunn took with “The Suicide Squad,” soft reboot?

Instead of Wonder Woman 3, it will be called “The Wonder Woman.”

@DannyDischarge - Why do people say The Suicide Squad was a soft reboot? There's nothing in it that contradicts the first movie that I know of. And they even reference the first movie. It even has all the same actors return for their roles. The tone was different, sure. But that's about it.

b.) is not really in control.
c.) has no idea what he's doing.

From what I can see so far, it just looks like the same old WB/DC mess we've had all along going forward.

As long as we are getting a new Wonder Woman movie. It is ridiculous to have a new DCU and not have Wonder Woman. Just give this new Wonder Woman movie more action, better action, and set it in the present.

Listen, until James Gunn fails me, he has my trust, but this half-measure reboot, on paper, sounds dumb as shit.

As a big fan of the DCEU, I implore you to just kill it completely off if you're planning to start over.
