Press screeners for Wonder Woman 1984 didn't include the film's post-credits scene in an effort to give fans something to look forward to when the film is released...without it being spoiled beforehand. The flaw in that logic, however, is that the sequel started arriving in theaters overseas last week!
We recently learned that Wonder Woman television actress Lynda Carter is the main focus of the brief mid-credits stinger. In that, it's revealed that her character's name is Asteria, the previous owner of the Golden Eagle armor Diana Prince wears in Wonder Woman 1984.
After saving someone, the Themysciran warrior mentions that she's "been doing this all this time," a hint, perhaps, that she has been serving as a hero in the shadows for many hundreds of years (and since first finding her way to the world of man). The actress winks at the camera as the scene ends, a tongue-in-cheek nod to Carter's past as Wonder Woman.
The scene predictably leaked online this weekend, giving us our first look at Carter as Asteria, a character who may or may not have a future in the DC Extended Universe.
Unfortunately, there's no word on current plans for Wonder Woman 3, but it's likely to happen one day.
