Marvel Studios Boss Kevin Feige Said To Be "Eager" To Bring The X-Men Into The Marvel Cinematic Universe
A new report delves deep into the planned merger between Disney and Fox and it probably won't surprise you to learn that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is anxious to get his hands on the X-Men...
Disney has a lot to gain from acquiring 20th Century Fox, including franchises like Planet of the Apes and Avatar. Perhaps the crown jewel, however, is the X-Men, especially as this deal would bring those characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The logistics are unlikely to be worked out until the end of next year (which probably means X-Men: Dark Phoenix will still be released) but Wolverine and company are definitely going to appear in the same world as The Avengers sooner rather than later.
According to Deadline, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is "said to be eager to get his hands on the X-Men Universe," news which shouldn't come as any sort of surprise. Whether or not he'll scrap the likes of Gambit, X-Force, and Multiple Man or just reconfigure them for the MCU isn't clear, though.
Chances are that if those projects do live on, they'll be very different but the X-Men and mutants, in general, are no doubt going to start playing a big role in Phase 4 just as Spider-Man has (pretty much the only major character Disney won't own when this deal goes through) since Captain America: Civil War. The mutant gene suddenly surfacing makes perfect sense and would be very easy to incorporate.
