MULAN And THE NEW MUTANTS Have Both Been Postponed Indefinitely By Disney Due To Coronavirus

There's more bad news for movie fans today as both Mulan and The New Mutants have been delayed indefinitely as the spread of the Coronavirus continues wreaking havoc on the entertainment world...

With growing concerns surrounding the spread of the Coronavirus, Disney has now confirmed that Mulan has been postponed. The live-action adaptation of the classic animated feature was set to arrive in theaters on March 27th, but the studio is now looking to secure a release date later in 2020.

That's not the only upcoming movie which has been impacted by the pandemic, though, as The New Mutants and the Guillermo Del Toro-produced Antlers are also no longer being released.

There's no word on what will become of them, but the former seems like a good fit for Disney+.

The hit on the global box office could be as much as $10 billion this year thanks to the coronavirus, and the trade notes that Black Widow is still scheduled for May 1st. That could, however, change in the coming weeks depending on what happens (many states are enforcing bans on groups of more than 250 - 500 people gathering together in a bid to stop the virus spreading any further).

As of right now, it looks like we're in for a quiet couple of months in theaters, and it's added that, "there's growing concern that some cinemas could go dark in areas where cases of COVID-19 are proliferating, or where business has slowed." What the Coronavirus means for films currently shooting is hard to say, but at this rate, 2020 movies could arrive in 2021 instead of later this year!

The most important thing is that people stay healthy, of course, but this is bound to come as a crushing blow to those looking forward to the likes of Mulan and The New Mutants.

We'll keep you guys updated as we learn more.

Dear Mulan Fans, Making this film has been one of the most satisfying and exhilarating experiences of my entire career, and I’ve been so fortunate to be on this journey with some of the best cast and crew in the business – people who truly embody the attributes of Loyal, Brave, and True. We are so excited to share this film with the world, but given the current ever-shifting circumstances we are all experiencing, unfortunately, we have to postpone the worldwide release of MULAN for now. Our hearts are with everyone the world over who is affected by this virus, and we hope that Mulan’s fighting spirit will continue to inspire those who are working so hard to keep us all safe. Thank you for all of your enthusiasm and support, and I can’t wait for the day where we will all get to experience this tale of a girl warrior who became a legend together #mulan #yifei_cc #loyalbravetrue With love, Niki Caro

I don’t usually post things that are personal, I don’t really ‘get’ social media (I wish I did) but, In light of recent news.... I just want to say that, New Mutants is SO important to me and it’s such an important movie for Indigenous & LGBTQ communities. It was also the very first project I ever really got to be in. It was a serious honor to get to play Dani Moonstar, and although there have been many delays and setbacks, there will be a perfect time for this movie to come out. I’m so incredibly relieved that it’s been pushed so that this movie can have the audience it deserves. Thinking of all the people who are being hurt by this virus in all the different ways... financially, physically, mentally... Stay healthy and safe and positive everyone xx

Smart move since Call of the Wild and Onward both flopped already.

Wow, new mutants can't catch a break. By the time it releases, they'll be The Old Mutants.

Wow. It's like the universe itself is conspiring to prevent New Mutants from the silver screen. I have no interest in the film but I'm guessing this must be a shitty thing for the actors.

Sucks for The New Mutants. Hopefully they find a release date for it. Maybe for October for Halloween? It would be fitting. It can make enough money there before The Eternals arrive the next month.

I saw the trailer for Antlers months ago it sure was scary as hell.

I'm willing to believe that there is no New Mutants movie at this point. Fox and Disney shot the trailers between negotiations and are seeing how long they can troll us for...

@Himura - well, evidently people have been downvoting it/posting highly negative comments on IMDB...
