Though Deadline broke the story, director James Mangold has now confirmed that Logan will have its world premiere almost a month before it goes on general release when it screens out of competition as part of the Berlin International Film Festival, which is scheduled to take place February 9 through 18.

The first 40 minutes of the film already screened recently to a very positive response, and by all accounts Hugh Jackman's final (well, unless Ryan Reynolds can convince him to return) appearance as the iconic mutant is going to be something very special. No doubt we'll be hearing more detailed reports following its premiere in Berlin next month.

Logan is set to claw its way into theaters on March 3.

Hopefully the 3rd act is good.
The Wolverine was one final act from being a great film imo.

Could it be possible that this film is set in the orginal timeline of the X-men films?

As in the Sentinel future.

It being a year after the future DoFP doesnt seem to fit with me. I find it hard to believe that in the 'happy future' all the x-men are killed, wolverine loses his powers and Xavier devlops Alziheimers after a single year.

I feel this is a what would have happened if DoFP had failed.

That is to say both futures have occured; The dystopian future and the happy one Wolverine wakes up in in DoFP.

Making this film a 'What if' film.

Lets be honest for Hugh Jackmans final film, this is a far more intrguing and unique storyline, as ooposed to another The Wolverine (which I really enjoy).

I believe this will be the final film in the Singer Verse before a hard reboot, so it nice to see that this universe would have a Happy (DoFP) ending and a Sad (Logan) ending.

@StormXmen123 - I should have mentioned why the sentinels arent present if it is that future.

Again they may not have been shown in the trailer yet (cgi not finished, or simply removed as not to spoil).

Additionally, Im sure they could have had Sinister (if he is still in the film) easily hack and take control of them (from the humans) and destroy them.

Premiering in a film festival? Be more pretentious, Logan. I dare you. lol

They're writing a lot of checks that their ass may not be able to cash on this one.
