Detailed Description OF THE WOLVERINE Trailer; Major SPOILERS

The boys (and girl) of The Schmoes Know had a guest on their latest radio show that got a look at the upcoming first teaser trailer for James Mangold's The Wolverine. He describes the teaser in detail, consequently spoiling a major plot point from the movie - so be warned!

The actual description comes in around the 1:24 point, and you have to put up with a couple of annoying interruptions along the way - but believe me it's well worth a listen!

The trailer will be with us pretty soon anyway, but just in case you didn't watch the video look away now as I'm going to break it down. Apparently the teaser begins with a woman approaching Logan when he's looking all homeless and disheveled like we saw from those early set pics. It seems he's not going by the name Wolverine anymore - a nod to Mark Millar's Old Man Logan perhaps? Anyway, she introduces him to an old man who owes him a debt for saving his life many years ago. We see this through a serious of apparently awesome action shots. There are a few more tidbits, but basically the big reveal comes at the end: Wolverine realizes that he's lost his healing factor!

What do you guys think? Sound off in the usual place.

UPDATE: Here's a more detailed breakdown from The Schmoes Know:

“Funky Japanese girl carrying samurai sword finds Wolverine. He’s got long hair, beard and looks very transient. She says, “Nice to meet you “Wolverine”. He says, “I’m not that man anymore.” They get on a private jet and fly to Japan. He meets an elderly Japanese man who is lying in very modern medical bed. He tells “Logan” (clearly he knows him) he wants to thank him for the life he saved.

Flash back to POW camp, we see Logan shield a man from a plume of fire from a massive explosion. The Japanese man offers to give him his life back.

There are several action sequences, one where Logan fights a ninja and the ninja slices him with two swords. We see Logan grin as all the wounds heal immediately an he goes berserk on the ninja. Logan tells the old man that he can’t be fixed, the old man says dont be so sure.

More action sequences, one on top of a high speed train a la mission impossible. We see Logan and the funk Japanese girl and her men attacked and Logan is wounded. He says, I’m not healing any longer. Cut to distorted image of him looking in mirror, he says, “What’s happening to me.”

That sounds pretty damn exciting to me! My source also told me that the tone is dark and gritty and the CGI isn’t noticeable like that shit show Origins."

@ SuperiorSpiderGoblin - do you bleed to death every time you cut yourself? No, the fact you wrote your comment is proof of this. If Wolverine lost his healing while his claws are out it'll not really affect him as his skin will have already have healed around the claws. If he loses his healing and then uses his claws it'll cut and bleed but not kill him unless he gets a serious infection.

Logan: I'm, I mean, my friend, is Wolverine in these dreams. He can't rapidly heel anymore or track people by scent.

Doctor: Maybe your, friend, isn't supposed to be Wolverine, heeling rapidly and baring indestructible claws.

Could be by the Muramasa blade as that stops anyones healing factor.

Come on people, Wolverine doesnt lose his healing powers!!! Silver Samurai will probably weild the Maramusa blade , counter acts all mutants with healing powers!
iJackSparrow
iJackSparrow - 3/22/2013, 10:11 AM
It could be related to the Muramasa Blade, the sword that Silver Samurai will be possibly wielding in the movie. I don't believe they are going with the "losing powers" route, but the Murasama Blade could be mystical or somehow affect Wolverine powers, making him think that he is not "healing" anymore.

It sounds [frick]ing awesome. The Wolverine is becoming my most anticipated CBM after Iron Man III, I'm really curious with what they are going for with this film. Hopefully we'll get the first good Wolverine movie out of this one.

On the Muramasa Sword Marvel Wiki page :
"The sword is also capable of greatly reducing the efficiency of a superhumanly fast healing rate."

So I guess we're in for the Muramasa Sword in this movie.

AWESOME.
