IESB.net reporter Robert Sanchez went to the opening of X-Men Origins: Wolverine in Tempe, Arizona yesterday. On the redcarpter Robert Sanchez got the chance to interview Tom Rothman co-chairman of Fox.

Rothman when asked about Wolverine Origins 2(Japanese Storyline), Gambit spinoff, Deadpool spinoff, and X-men First Class responded with:

"If it[X-Men Origins:Wolverine] works out well, and we think it will. Then we're going to be hard at work on them."
He then went on to say:
"There are, for those true fans, who stay all they way to the end of the credits. There will be some hints on what ones are coming next..."

Then when asked about Predator, Rothman had to say this:
"[Robert Rodriquez] is going to be creative godfathering. Robert Rodriquez wrote a script of it himself about ten years ago and he is going back to that. So he is writing it, producing it, and he is doing it at his facility..."
"...[Robert Rodriquez] is going to choose the director, and he is going to over see it all..."

Then Rothman is asked about an Aliens prequel. Rothman explains there has been some talk, and Ridley Scott is toying with the idea.

Then when asked about a Daredevil reboot. Rothman says:
"Yes, but soon? I don't know. But, we are going to try to reboot."

Rothman gives no comment on the future of Fantastic Four.

And finally the movie I am most excited about James Cameron's Avatar. For those who do not already know this movie is supposed to change the way we see movies. It is supposed to do what Star Wars did back in its day.

Rothman has to say this:
"All things come to those who wait..."
He also confirms to get the real scoop on Avatar be at ComiCon.
Rothman says this:
"If you're interested in seeing THE movie that is going to change the way we see movies. Only if your interested in that. If your interested in an experience unlike anything you have ever had, I would show up at ComiCon..."

Avatar is a 3D live-action movie. FOX has been pretty tight lipped on the project and there has been little released.

I had the chance last tuesday to see Wes Studi talk to my Film class at the University of Kansas. Wes Studi is a great native american actor who has been in many great movies such as: Dances With Wolves, Last of the Mohicans, and Heat. He also starred in my Professor's latest movie that made the SunDance Festival, The Only Good Indian. Wes is supposed to be in Avatar and when asked about his role. Wes says:
"Well I play an inhabitant of another world." He was very relunctant to give out much more info besides Avatar is something very "New".

So we have some very big news on some of Fox's upcoming projects, Daredevil reboot, more to come in X-men, Predator reboot, possible Aliens prequel, and snippits of Avatar.

Yeah I really wish Marvel could get movie rights back for Wolverine. Hugh is so devoted but some of that energy is being wasted on the morons at fox.

ya know. Fox screws alot of shit up. But, atleast their making the damn movies. We can barely get shit out of DC and Marvel takes forever. So atleast their putting them out there. If they take forever like DC and Marvel people are going to lose interest, they'll quit making money, and bye bye comic book movie. so maybe they don't do it right. But atleast they freakin' do it.

Oh, and I care about Avatar strangely enough. I used to watch the cartoon with my little brother. It's very good IMO.

...and no, we don't need a daredevil reboot. A sequel would be nice tho.

Not the cartoon Avatar, this is completley unrelated.

In a perfect world, MARVEL would own the rights to all thier charcters, but that's not reality. The reality is FOX owns a good chunk of them. After seeing the Wolverine film and having knowledge that Jackman told FOX he was taking creative control basically outta thier hands or he'd walk. Fox may have finally got the message that thier job is to provide the funds and not interfere until the money starts rolling in. Case in point with MARVEL's 2 outstanding entry titles after going independent. If FOX isn't gonna give the rights back to MARVEL they at least have to give the creative freedom that MARVEL would, to it's franchises. Otherwise they are only gonna be hurting thier own interests at the end of the day, 'how much money gets brought in'.

MidKnight35 is right JOS, M. Night Shyamalamalamadingdong is doing Nicktoons Avatar while Cameron is doing a "brand NEW thing" called avatar. And you know what? If they don't shut up about it, they'll end up shooting themselves in the foot! If FOX creates too much hype around "the new way we'll see movies" for avatar, it could be very damaging for them. I predict "the fall" of James Cameron. And normally i'm not that pescimistic but this time, there's just "something" about it that makes me feel it will bomb big time. Call it a gut feeling... Hey, aren't these your lines Grif???

Agreed. Daredevil is a decent film. You have to remember when watching it that it's one of the 1st of this generations comic movies. It was dipping it's toes in the water when all the recent film can just jump in head 1st! The only real issue I had with it was Colin Farrel's "crazy" stare that had more of a "I've just given my testicles a paper cut" look about it. Nic Cage for your avatar.

Sorry, guys. I didn't like Daredevil at all. A Daredevil reboot sounds like a fine idea to me. Here are some things to make it work this time:
1) Give him a costume. No leather fetish fantasy. NO ARMOR. I don't care if it's the all-red costume, the yellow and red costume, or neon pink with purple horns. Just let's see Daredevil at least LOOK like Daredevil. Shouldn't be too hard to do.
2) White Kingpin. Nothing against Michael Clarke Duncan- he's a fine actor who I've enjoyed in every other film I've seen him in (especially The Green Mile and The Whole Nine Yards). He's just not the Kingpin. Let's see the Kingpin as a large, heavy white guy. It makes him a more interesting opponent because nobody expects this big 400 pound plus guy to be able to fight at all- but the Kingpin is a very formidable fighter.
3) No Ben Asslick!
4) Find a director who loves and understands the character and what makes him cool. This may be the one place I would ever trust Frank Miller to direct. He wrote some pretty damn good Daredevil stories. He should be able to translate one of them into an action-packed and really interesting movie.
Let's take Daredevil back to the beginning and show the world what makes the guy cool in the first place.

OH GOD! Fox is doing the DD reboot?!?! That SUCKS! That's horrible. So instead of one crap movie about it, we get TWO!

This is bad bad news.

Down with the Dare Devil thing! Always loved the character, Murdock is really complex and extremely smart which always makes for a well rounded hero.

Frank Miller as director YES PLEASE! The guys got vision and he can adapt paper to screen very well. I'm diggin the rumors for Jason Statham to play the big DD.

Reason 1) Jason Statham does his own stunts he is very well versed in martial arts and is a total embodiment of the ideal action hero.
2)He's good at action movies in that he cuts through the bullshit and even though some of his movies are very over the top action for some reason I see him do it and go "yup I can believe it".
3) Also he can be darker then Affleck in my opinion, not anything personal agaisnt Ben but just not Dare devil to me.

As far a movies is concerned. Look what happen to WatchMen, if it wasn't for the DAM rights fight it would have had better returns @ the box office. Fox makes some decent films but they have changed the story lines a little. Take in point Rogue & Wolverine. What f... was that about!. Never watched the Avatar Cartoon to much. I was more a fun of DBZ & Naruto!!
JamesH
JamesH - 4/30/2009, 10:51 AM
Frank Miller? Director? Please no... He's a legendary writer and creator but as a director? have you watched "The Spirit?"

ok... lets look at this objectively. Jason Statham would be a great Daredevil but that's about that. He's got the physical skills. He's a badass. He's got the physique. No doubt about that but as Matt Murdock? he would suck bigtime. Playing Daredevil aint juz being a guy in tights. He must be able to play both roles perfectly as Downey has with Ironman/Stark and Bale has with Batman/Wayne.

how was watchmen a bust? i liked the movie, and i had no previous idea of who they were, the profits are just going to go up with the dvd\blueray releases, ive seen kids with the graphic novel i may even pick up one soon.. and this movie came out in march it had.. like american idol and "your favorite" shows to compete with, probaly could did better if it were released in the summer.. idk i just dont agree with people saying it was a bust.

if there gonna do a daredevil reboot, i would have Ben Affleck play him again.i thought he was a really cool daredevil in the first one.

Im not a big rdriquez fan so im not excited about that. Everything else sounds pretty cool. There are alotta great DD stories that could be done. I think if they do a Frank Miller story, they should do it in that style. If they do a JRJR story, it should be in his style. Either one'd be cool.

@ loganspatch, I never said it was a bust. Just to point that the earning potenial got robbed by all the legal issues it went thru thats all.

Shaman - your "M. Night Shyamalamalamadingdong" made me laugh and I think a little pee came out! Maybe I should have said his look was "I've just given my testicles a paper cut but I can't let anyone know".

JamesH - Very good point. Statham would be great in costume but as hard as he is, he can't do a convincing accent never mind play a blind guy! He'd be a great villain, Tombstone maybe? I'm not up on DD comics that much so don't know if they crossed paths.

Affleck was actually good and I liked the costume.

If they do a Dare Devil reboot they need to do it like The Incredible Hulk where he is already Dare Devil otherwise I would prefer they leave it alone and move on to different characters. It seems like their going to get in the habit of rebooting a movie until everyone likes it which is stupid.

LEEE777 - 4/30/2009, 7:24 PM
Um,,, isn't there already a ALIENS prequel??? Its called ALIEN lol! DAREDEVIL = Don't need to be rebooted, just have a different guy play DD if they have to and new vilains NO ELECTRA, though i would'nt mind BULLEYE back, but only if COLIN plays him! DEADPOOL = Would be a Awesome movie IF it is nothing based on the DEADPOOL in WOLVERINE! OMG, how can they mess him up so bad, FOX really does have talent lol! (Anyway, don't bother if its the movie version rather than the comic version). PREDATOR = NO Reboot, carry on with another sequel, you can't touch ARNOLD's, don't even try! Oh and ive got a horrible feeling what the X-MEN FIRST CLASS movies gonna be like!!! I wont spoil it for those who hav'nt seen WOLVERINE yet, but check the end out when you do, YOU'LL understand! An i said it here 1st lol! Remember! : D P.s. An if they make a WOLVERINE ORIGINS 2, just call it WOLVERINE 2 or something, Japan sounds cool! Actually WOLVERINE should've been called WOLVERINE: WEAPON X i reckon, not ORIGINS! ; )
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 4/30/2009, 7:29 PM
P.p.s BULLEYE (COLIN) in the DEADPOOL movie!!! (Both owned by FOX be nice to bring the FOX movies together, though ofcourse DEADPOOL in the RED SPANDEX). : )
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 4/30/2009, 7:44 PM
Back lol! Oh yeah QUESTION????? ,,,, If DEADPOOL has the healing ability how come his (the merc with mouth) MOUTH don't heal???? Also GAMBIT would be good movie under SINGERS loving care! AVATAR (will that ever be made? I hope it does, just hope its as good as the HYPE). Peace!

I really hope they dont touch the Predator and Alien franchises anymore coz the latest installments were lousy as hell.

Aliens Ressurection was good but nowhere close to what the 1st 2 films achieved. AVP was good too but didnt please a lot of people. AVP2 was pure shit. Acting, plot, special effects... everything about that movie wouldnt even cut as a B movie!

LEEE777 - Maybe they whacked a skin graft over the mouth (looked like it to me) the skin would then "heal" into the surrounding tissue tightly covering his mouth.
JamesH
JamesH - 5/1/2009, 7:29 PM
Then if you're right Howlett04, it would mean if he cut his mouth open, it would juz seal itself up again due to the healing process rendering that rumored surprise ending inaccurate

Daredevil - the Director's Cut was great, except for Afleck's wooden fight scene's. Mark Steven Johnson did a nice job.
