Channing Tatum "Dying" To Play GAMBIT; Negotiations On 1-YD Line

X-Men: Days of Future Past hasn't even been released yet, but its sequel X-Men: Apocalypse is already making headlines. In an interview with THR, Channing Tatum talks Gambit and reveals a lot.

A few weeks ago news broke that Jupiter Ascending star Channing Tatum would star as the Ragin' Cajun Gambit in X-Men: Apocalypse and possibly in a future solo film. It was assumed that after producer Lauren Shuler Donner broke the news herself that his casting was official, but that might not be the case. It doesn't seem to be something to worry about though, with Tatum describing talks as being on the 1-yd line. We should expect something more definitive when X-Men: Apocalypse goes into pre-production later this year. Check out what he has to say about the role in the video below and catch THR's full coverage by clicking HERE.

"I hope to be joining -- everything's not done yet," he told THR on May 19. "I've obviously been in talks, and we're on the one yard line," he added.

"I'm always afraid of being like, 'Yes it's totally happening' and then it doesn't happen."

"I'm dying to do it," he said, of the sequel, which would follow the latest film X-Men: Days of Future Past, hitting theaters May 23.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past hits theaters on May 23, 2014.

I hate channing tatum and the fox's movies about X-men's. They are so confused and the temporal chronology is a mess.

I don't like that they have had so many actors play characters. How many actors have played striker? Fox will go down in history as a joke in the comic world

Tatum as Gambit and Efron as Daredevil would make a great team-up movie. Let's make it happen Fox and Disney.

So Taylor Kitsh could still come back. That is cool news. I know his last few movies have failed but he did a great job in Lone Survivor. So he isn't the problem it just is people didn't want to see those films.

I'm not going to pay for a Gambit movie anyway, it's just a minor character, and also not a fan of Tatum. His neck is huge man.

I really like Gambit. I really do not like Tatum as an actor. I would choose someone different but when he gets the role, I hope and pray he does it justice. Kitsch was great as Gambit.

I think he'll be alright. Only thing I liked about Kitsch was that dialogue exchange.

"Are you Remy LeBeau?"
*Gambit stops doing card tricks*
"Do I owe you money?"
"No."
*Taking off his hat and leaning forward*
"Then Remy LeBeau I am!"
