A few weeks ago news broke that Jupiter Ascending star Channing Tatum would star as the Ragin' Cajun Gambit in X-Men: Apocalypse and possibly in a future solo film. It was assumed that after producer Lauren Shuler Donner broke the news herself that his casting was official, but that might not be the case. It doesn't seem to be something to worry about though, with Tatum describing talks as being on the 1-yd line. We should expect something more definitive when X-Men: Apocalypse goes into pre-production later this year. Check out what he has to say about the role in the video below and catch THR's full coverage by clicking HERE.

"I hope to be joining -- everything's not done yet," he told THR on May 19. "I've obviously been in talks, and we're on the one yard line," he added.

"I'm always afraid of being like, 'Yes it's totally happening' and then it doesn't happen."

"I'm dying to do it," he said, of the sequel, which would follow the latest film X-Men: Days of Future Past, hitting theaters May 23.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past hits theaters on May 23, 2014.
